Val d'Isere Reports 17-18 Stats - Nearly 30 Feet of Snowfall

Val d'Isere has issued some stats on its 2017-18 ski season which ended last week.
The famous French resort reported it received 889cm (Just under 30 feet) of snowfall in total, more than half as much again as the five year average – 5.5 metres.
As a result of the huge January snowfalls Val d'Isere was one of the resorts cut off by snowfall and which was forced to ask its guests to stay off the slopes and indoors on several dates due to operational issuers and avalanche danger. It reports it had '65 powder days' but it isn't clear if that total includes the days when the slopes were inaccessible.
18,724 hours were spent clearing the snow.
Fun stats published include a claim that the resort's restaurants served up 300,000 cheese fondues, using 60 tonnes of cheese, and that 1 million ski boots danced in the resort's bars and night clubs.
Val d'Isere will re-open some of its winter slopes for summer skiing in a little over three weeks' for the first time in its 82 year ski history, thanks to all that winter snow that is still lying several metres deep. They'll operate in the mornings for two weeks before its usual glacier skiing season begins.
