More Heavy Snowfall in New Zealand

Snow depths are at the metre mark in New Zealand now after more snowfalls for the start of this week has helped to further build bases and bring powder conditions as winter 2018 continues to build up momentum.
Ski areas in the South Island like Coronet Peak and Cardrona (pictured above yesterday 25 June 18) reported 20cm of snowfall by Monday and further 10-20cm falls on top with great powder skiing conditions during lulls in the storm.
Some ski areas were force to close during stormy conditions, particularly gale force winds, at times over the weekend.
Most South Island ski areas have bases of 80-90cm so far, all lifts operating and around half their runs open, more limited terrain is on offer on the North Island.
The snowfall has also been dumping down on the North Island where Turoa at Mt Ruapehu is due to open for the season this coming weekend – it's usually the last in the Southern Hemisphere trio close – sometimes making it through to 'Snowvember' and occasionally opening at Christmas – midsummer in the southern hemisphere.
