Up to 3 Feet of End-of-Season Snowfall in the Alps

The majority of ski areas are now closed in the Alps although over a hundred will remain open for the coming Easter weekend and many of these on to the final weekend of April, some the first weekend of May and a few dozen beyond then too.
After the heavy snowfall 10 days ago there has been intermittent snowfall mixed with sunny and sometimes foggy days across the alps with the eastern side of the mountains – Austria, Eastern Switzerland and North-eastern Italy, seeing the heaviest snowfalls.
The Stubai Glacier in Austria's Tirol region has reported 95cm (over three feet) of snow in the past week, more than half of it falling in one heavy snowfall on Saturday leaving 50cm lying on Sunday morning. This takes its upper slope base depth to just under 6 metres (20 feet), one of the deepest in the world.
The sun is back out there today and the spring glacier ski season will last for nearly two more months to June 10th, 2019.
Another glacier posting heavy snowfall is the Presena in Trentino, Italy, a little to the south. It has had 75cm (2.5 feet), again with 50cm in the 24 hours to Sunday morning and has a 3-4.5 metre (10-15 foot) base. It is due to stay open to May 19th.
Many other ski areas in the region have posted 20-50cm of snowfall over the past few days.
