A preference for fast skiing is going to suggest you will need something on the stiffer side of the scale (especially at nearly 12 stone).. usually termed as 'piste performance' or similar and there is plenty out there.

Think Salomon Aero GT as a starting point, the 172 has a 16.9m radius so would lend itself well to longer turns and be relatively stable at speed. Do you have a snowdome nearby where you can try out some skis? Sometimes the best thing to do is go to a demo armed with a list of skis to try and pick the pair you like the most.

How much do you really trust the internet? 8)

My OH skis on Salomon Aeros (can't remember the length off the top of my head) which he really likes (He's 6ft, about 12 1/2 stone and skis mainly blue and red runs.)

I know very little about skis and somebody is probably now going to tell me these are rubbish, but a suggestion for you non the less.

They were also not too expensive (paid £350 inc. bindings, can't remember which ones, sorry!!)

Thanks Lynn and Pablo.
Funnily enough a number of people at work have mentioned that VERY ski you both named :-)
Quite right Pablo,I will indeed try some at the Snowdome :)
Cheers to you both for your input.
Kind Regards
David

There are plenty skis in the range.. make sure you try a few! Is your local a snow and rock or an ellis brigham?
