Hi webbski

I did look at Ishgl a couple of years ago and cannot remember why I did not go there. Perhaps it is too young / party type crowd? Do not get me wrong, love to party etc but with 3 children in tow usually look for something a bit quieter. I have two daughters one preteen the other just teen and a 7 year old who all ski well. Husband is what you would consider expert with my eldest daughter close behind. We all love our skiing, is Ishgl somewhere we should look at for our next trip? Your advice would be appreciated
mum works too hard to pay for the ski trips!

webbski, I think a perfect ski for your requirements would be the FISCHER RACE SC. It's a easy to use race ski with a soft flex. The side cut is in between slalom and GS. This years model is 14M @165. The pair I have is 14M at 170. They are just a fun easy to use ski with excellent edge hold (damp and torsionally stiff). You can pump slalom turns or just ride long fast turns with stability.

Morning CW.
Yes,for sure Ischgl is a party town, but not for youngsters. Its much more pleasurable than ,say,Mayrhofen.Basically,it's a middle class beautiful resort. There are no "nasty" ,ugly buildings, plenty of pleasant restaurants and good bars and clubs. The Apre ski is second to none.Better than St.Anton and not soo crowded.France has NOWHERE like it,and I skied there for 10 years .including all the usual suspects like ValD,Courcheval,Meribel etc.Its a snow-sure resort.Never had a problem in 9 years, excepting the 2 red runs down to the village.Only one thing I would say against the ski-ing and that is the ( relative) lack of black runs. Its also not noted as a beginners resort,in other words,an intermediates paradise.I could recommend hotels if that is how you holiday.
Look up their website www.ischgl.com.Enjoy the experience, its beautifully maintained as well.Piste bashing at its best.
Cheers
David :)

Morning Trencher ,and thanks for your input.I normally steer clear of anything with "race " in the name, and stiffness is'nt a word I like either ( well not in ski-ing terms anyway),but I'll check them out.
Kind Regards
David :)

It's all down to taste though. To my tastes Ischgl is loud and tacky, full of euro style faux alpine buildings lacking any real character at all. Apres consists of middle aged Europeans being loud and drinking beer. While the skiing is utterly dismal, the slopes are tedious beyond belief with the only saving grace that there is amount of easily accessed off-piste ideal for anyone starting to build that skill.
