Yes,for sure Ischgl is a party town, but not for youngsters. Its much more pleasurable than ,say,Mayrhofen.Basically,it's a middle class beautiful resort. There are no "nasty" ,ugly buildings, plenty of pleasant restaurants and good bars and clubs. The Apre ski is second to none.Better than St.Anton and not soo crowded.France has NOWHERE like it,and I skied there for 10 years .including all the usual suspects like ValD,Courcheval,Meribel etc.Its a snow-sure resort.Never had a problem in 9 years, excepting the 2 red runs down to the village.Only one thing I would say against the ski-ing and that is the ( relative) lack of black runs. Its also not noted as a beginners resort,in other words,an intermediates paradise.I could recommend hotels if that is how you holiday.
Look up their website www.ischgl.com.Enjoy the experience, its beautifully maintained as well.Piste bashing at its best.
Cheers
David :)

Hi Webbski

I know it is a bit late for a reply but we are now looking at Ishgl for this seasons trip. would you be forthcoming with the hotel information? Also, daughter number two will be snowboarding this year - is Ishgl good for beginners as I have promised her she can board instead of ski (she thinks its cooler and wants the soft boots!!!!)

thanks

Thanks Tony H - any ideas on accommodation. We do not like to walk too far to the lifts (does anyone )as we have a 7 year old skier as well.

thanks in advance

No, sorry. However, its recommended to consider stopping in Samnaum on the Swiss side, or for better prices in Galtur down the valley and take the bus or drive into Ischgl. If in Ischgl, you want to be on or close to the main street with easy links to the Idalp or Pradatschgrat lifts. If you are the other side of the bypass, it may be a long walk.
The official website would be your best bet.
