... and for those of you reading on here
Flumserberg, train from Zurich airport via Zurich to Unterterzen ( on week-ends there is a train shuttle from the airport train station all the way to Unterterzen ) Stay at Resort Walensee right by the lake steps from the train stop. The gondola from Unterterzen to Flumserberg is also only steps away across the street. http://www.resortwalensee.com/ skiing here would keep experienced skiers busy for 3/4 days but then Pizol above Bad Ragaz is only a couple of train stops away and good for another day. |

Hi,
Have a look at the Montafon Valley in the Vorarlberg near the Swiss border. Train from Zurich airport via Zurich and Bludenz right into the centre of Schruns 2 hrs 37 mins. http://www.montafon.at/en My tip: http://www.adler-montafon.com/2/en/ in St Anton im Montafon the urban train stop is across the street and from here its only minutes to Schruns or take the ski bus outside the hotel ( do not confuse with its big brother St Anton am Arlberg ) Happy skiing. |

The company will most likely issue you a Snow'n'rail ticket mentionned here above by SwingBeep you might be interested at Central Switzerland particularly Titlis/Engelberg quite demanding skiing here:
http://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/day-trips/snownrail.html?_charset_=UTF-8&leisureTripItem=snow®ion=zentralschweiz&keyword= 40 years ago they didn't think of this kind of offer. The fact they invited you over tells me you got the job ! |

Who knows what the weather will be this year end of March, if you are lucky early morning skiing might be OK, at midday the snow turns into porridge.
On Saturdays and Sundays a ski shuttle train operates from the airport directly to Unterterzen at 06:20, 07:20, 08:20. There is a much better snow guarantee higher up at Titlis above Engelberg near Lucerne . Even though this is Easter time the steam for skiing is out no matter how good the snow will be. |

Hi,
DO NOT drive on Austrian highways and toll roads without a - Vignette - Road Toll Sticker, not even one inch ! The Austrian police set up traps right after the border and the highway operator also make random checks at gas stations, the fine is stiff, they are merciless and heard it all before. You can buy the sticker at any gas station in Germany close to the Austrian border. Check this link http://www.asfinag.at/toll The cost for the 8 day vignette is 8,50 € You actually can avoid toll roads by driving via Mittenwald but this is not advisable in bad weather the road is very steep. The best shoe is a comfortable shoe. I once forgot mine and rented a pair of old worn out terribly smelly rear entry boots in Engelberg, they fitted like a glove and gave me the best skiing day I would have bought them from the rental shop if it wasn't for the awful smell.
I am past your age comfort comes first don't buy boots now get some more ski experience. No one at après is looking "down" on you not even the ladies. Just make sure the boots don't smell. Happy skiing. |

Can't help you with Pitztal, not been there, check this link:
http://www.pitztal.com/en/unterkuenfte/lage-anreise http://www.vvt.at/page.cfm?vpath=index&switchLocale=en_US Check the weather conditions nearer to your time, this would be low season here in Europe and you wouldn't have any difficulties finding accomodation. Axamer Lizum and Schlick 2000 are day trips from Innsbruck. http://www.worldsnowboardguide.com/resorts/austria/index.cfm |
