Hi,
The road toll is yearly and it cost CHF 40.- to use the highways. All the resorts on a Sunday in good weather will be full and you might just as well not go. If you intend to stay overnight you could stay in the valley rather than in the expensive mountain hotels.
To give you ideas, Stans, for the Lucerne area resorts Andermatt, Engelberg, Melchsee-Frutt, Bad Ragaz / Chur and nearby villages to cover Flumserberg, Pizol, Lenzerheide Arosa, Flims etc.
I have been going to Switzerland extensively for my work over the years by car and always been taken my ski gear in winter and put in a day of skiing .
Nobody has been mentioning Lenk which is connected to Adelboden.
Happy skiing.

Forgot, since you are on the Austria Forum:
Check out the Montafon valley in the Vorarlberg area, that's before you get to St Anton, the train also goes to the centre of Schruns. http://www.montafon.at/ViewPage.asp?Site=MONTAFON2&PageID=302&Lang=199
Silvretta Nova at the end of the valley is lovely.

I find skiing Engelberg will be tough for a middle-aged *shaky* intermediate, honestly now the runs from the Stand-Titlis and Jochpass are steep, fast and demanding. You can't spend all your time at Brunni where all the children go or at Gerschnialp which is not snow guaranteed and hidden from the morning-sun. Engelberg is a lovely resort make no mistake and I like going there year in and out. Nearby Lucern and its lake area are attractive and a good visit in between ski days.

Would propose Grindelwald in the Bernese Oberland Jungfrau region high above Interlaken. The majority of the runs are easy and the selection would be larger. There is equally good sight-seing there and Bern the capital a must see is not far.

There is a train station at the airport and at the centre of both resorts. Check your schedule here: www.sbb.ch
Anywhere to ski last week in April?

Have a look at Engelberg above Lucerne, ski at the Titlis glacier. Central Switzerland always get good snow. Its easy accessible from Zurich, the train goes all the way to the village centre.

Einsiedeln has no skiing worth mentioning. Engelberg is quite a distance but your best option in the event of poor snow elsewhere.
Nearer to Zurich is Flumserberge . Check the Rail & Snow option from the swiss railway. During the season I believe there is a ski-train starting from the airport , can't verify the schedule at the moment.
