Why taxi ? To get to Sonnenkopf all you need is a 1 day one zone - domino - ticket for 2,20 €; train from St Anton to Langen then by bus to Klosterle and walk 5 minutes to the Sonnenkopf bottom station.

I skied the Sonnenkopf 2 weeks ago, it was awesome and just perfect after a 1 year ski pause.
Fuel is cheapest in Luxembourg prices are regulated and the same at all gas station here , cigarettes and alcohol too. I live here.

However I would not recommend to take the toll-free roads it takes forever on the Routes Nationales.
Reims and Highway is the way to go.

More resorts with a train station in the village, high up and snow guaranteed: Andermatt-Gotthard, Engelberg-Titlis, Arosa.
Snow & Rail to Flumserberg from ZRH. On week-ends the ski-shuttle train leaves from ZRH airport train station.

Hi, are you still there ?
There are no ski rental/shops in Ebnat-Kapell , suggest you go to nearby Wattwil which is a pleasant small working town just a couple of minutes down the road from the bus stop Kapplerhof.
Manor department store always have sales on ski gear.
http://www.sport-metzger.ch/ is an Intersport shop.
There are rental shops further up the road in Nesslau.

Sking is done in the upper Toggenburg, Alt-St. Johan & Wildhaus. I have been there a few times when in the area and the snow condition were good. It is quite pleasant and very laid back . http://mappery.com/map-of/Toggenburg-Ski-Trail-Map-2
