Driving to Belle Plagne in the New Year. We have been before but flown not driven.
When I look on the Tom Tom site it takes me through the tunnel and then the route goes via Reims.
When I looked on both the eurotunnel site and the RAC they go via Paris. No idea why.
I wondered if anyone would recommend one over the other.
I would prefer the Tom Tom site as although My Tom Tom is a few years old now and a few roads may have changed I would like to use it.
Just unsure why the other two reputable sites are going via Paris.
We are travelling through the night and would prefer the quickest but also easiest to understand route.
Thank you for any advice in advance.

The route to take would be take the A26 from Calais- then follow the signs from Calais to - Reims - Troyes - Dijon - Macon - Lyon - Chambery - Albertville - Moutiers , from Moutiers just follow the White signs with black lettering for La Plagne/Les Arcs etc to Aime, then from Aime it's just a breeze from there.
The drive itself is pretty straight forward as it is motorway all the way until Moutiers, don't forget to have a set of snow chains ( french law ) a spare set of bolbs , two high viz jackets ( french and EU law ), a warning triangle and some beam benders ( again french law, to direct the main beam to the other side of the road so as not to blind oncoming traffic ).
Hope this helps in some way and have an enjoyable safe trip, also if you have never fitted snow chains , have some practice before you go so as not to have to try them for the first time in a freezing blizzard at the road side.
All the best and Merry Xmas and Happy New Year

Reims definitely looks better. Thanks Jonathan for such a thorough answer. I think we have it all covered except the jackets now. I read on a site its one for everyone in the car. We have one for my partner but looking for something very cheap for me and our two teenage boys.
Although we enjoy flying we have opted for an apartment this year in Belle Plagne so needed the car to take a few necessities food wise to try and keep the restaurant bill down a little. Can't wait now as we are going New Year and there's lots of snow already. Have a great Christmas guys and happy skiing.

JonG has the best route above, I think the trip planners often route you through Paris as it is slightly shorter on the road, but it will almost always take you longer to do
Don't forget to have plenty of winter strength (read almost undiluted) screen wash for the journey. If the conditions dictate, you will be amazed at how much you can get through. It can always be purchased at the fuel stops, but is usually dearer than if you get it over here before you depart.
Safe journey and enjoy the skiing.

Google Map Route
Personally, I would expect to do it at least an hour and a half quicker than it states, but that would assume a clear run all the way.
