Hi guys

We are going for a long weekend to Flumsenberg in the last week of March. We have booked a hotel in Tannenboden. Could anybody let us know what is Flumsenberg's snow record at this time. Any information about the resort, slopes, train from Zurich airport will be very helpful. Thanks

Had a look at Flumserberg for a possible short trip. There were no direct trains from the airport but that shouldn't be a problem as there's a good service from the airport to main Zurich railway station and on to the station directly at the bottom of the gondola at Unterterzen. This takes you up to Tanneboden and onwards into the ski area. You can be in the ski area in 80 to 90 mins from the airport, if it all works and you time it right. For more railway info: http://www.sbb.ch

It's a popular resort with Zurich-ers at weekends, we were told, but quiet otherwise. A small area but perfectly ok for a weekend or three/four days etc. I'd very much like to hear your views, Ginnie, when you return.

Thanks for the info. We were a bit disappointed to hear that during weekends queues are long, not ideal for those who try to make the most of it in just 3-4 days. Hopefully it won't be too bad and there will still be enough snow by the end of March. Will share our experience when back :-)

Who knows what the weather will be this year end of March, if you are lucky early morning skiing might be OK, at midday the snow turns into porridge.

On Saturdays and Sundays a ski shuttle train operates from the airport directly to Unterterzen at 06:20, 07:20, 08:20.

There is a much better snow guarantee higher up at Titlis above Engelberg near Lucerne .

Even though this is Easter time the steam for skiing is out no matter how good the snow will be.
