A charming rustic village with an often lively nightlife, Gosau is lift-linked to Annaberg and Russbach on the West Dachstein Pass (other areas have free bus link). Snow-making covers lower runs if needed. The resort's toboggan run is illuminated for night use.


The Austrian ski resort of Gosau is in the Austrian Alps at an altitude of 770m2,526ft, with 56km35 miles of marked runs.

Gosau is part of the Dachstein West ski area with access to 245km152 miles of downhill skiing, with 97 marked pistes, served by a total of 61 ski lifts. In addition to the skiing in Gosau itself (56km35 miles of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Dachstein West ski resorts of Abtenau, Annaberg, Katrin - Bad Ischl, Krippenstein, Obertraun/Dachstein and Rußbach.


Gosau offers good sking, particularly, for Intermediate skiers.

 Notable Ski Runs

The longest possible descent in Gosau is 5km3 miles long and the most difficult run is the 'Kanonenrohr'.


The Playground Snowpark at Gosau means optimum snow adventure. The fun park is located just steps from the bottom station and is provided with its own park lift to have maximum benefit.

The modern Playground Snowpark, constructed according to state-of the-arts standards of security, is a great place to develop and improve new skills and tricks. Snowmaking installations provide constant training conditions from December throughout the whole winter. The park has floodlighting for night skiing operation; “shredding” possible every Thursday between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm. www.progressive-riding.com

How to get there

 By Air

The nearest airport to Gosau is Salzburg, 60 minutes drive away.

Linz, Munich, Klagenfurt, Graz, Ljubljana and Innsbruck Airport airports are all within three hours drive.

Salzburg is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.


Ski Lift Capacity

The 10 ski lifts are able to uplift 35,000 skiers and snowboarders every hour.

Snow Making

Snow-making is available, on 52km32 miles of ski runs, with 35 snow cannons.

Season Dates

When is Gosau open?

We don't currently have confirmed season dates, but hope to soon.

Usual opening is early December, and usual closing is Mid April.

NOTE:- Ski area, lift and piste opening is subject to Current Snow Conditions.
