Nasty little buggers, them.

Apparently tino_11 is scared of them, so can we add your name to the fish phobias list? )

I am not scared of them, but they can be nasty little buggers. Their sting is quite painful, and they randomly attack people paddling in the sea. Not nice.
I do however have a big phobia about Jellyfish. I used to have a fear of flying, but I cured that 5 years ago.

The sting is horrendous, not nice. How did you get over your fear of flying, I am terrified, I do it 'cos I want my holiday but I dont enjoy it?

Tis the summer tide. Every year, the ebb and flow of each snowsports forum drifts until firmly anchored in place by the first new snow :-D

Or we have all been drinking too much.

No, you can never drink too much; tonight it testimony to that.

Anyway, fear of flying is not a fear of flying....it is a fear of crashing. Let me tell you something, planes do not just crash. Get yourself on Discovery Channel and watch the whole series of Air Crash Investigation.......seriously, it makes you realise that you have to be seriously unlucky to be involved in an air disaster.....and I am talking one in a 10 million chance.

I said to myself its time to grow up and stop being such a f***y, and read a few books written by pilots, that tell you what can go wrong and how many failsafes there are if they do, and also bought a hypnotherapy CD which I listened to at bedtime for about a month.....well, it may have been rubbish, but it worked.

Seemingly, its all about taking control. If you are able to control your emotions and get rid of those annoying voices in your head that say things like "this is your list flight mate" or "look at your wife and tell her you love her, because it might be the last chance you get" or "did you just hear THAT noise?????......" etc etc etc, then you will be 75% of the way there.

Fact - planes dont drop out of the sky. My attitude is, if you survive the first 30 seconds of the flight, everything will be ok until the last 30 seconds. Its only when you come into close proximity to the ground that you have a problem, you know.....

Anyway, I got over my phobia so well, that I have flown over 40 times in the past 4 years. I cant get enough of it.

Now, whats the odds on me getting killed in an air crash.....?????

Correct. Hugely unlikely. I have got more chance of getting killed trying to get round the Edinburgh bypass this morning, which I understand is flooded. Happy August, Jocks.
