Val thorens is about as high as it gets. If its warm and no snow, we are all in the brown stuff. Literally

last season, or the one before, it stated snowing late November! Then did not stop until April. I was there in Jan, and will be this year, it was great :-)

Make sure you're going to Val T for the right reasons... After all, there's more to skiing than Altitude.
You should go Val T because you want to, not because you think that it only snows in one of the highest resorts in Europe.
My bro was dragged along to Val T a few years ago and what did he find in this supposedly most snowsure of snow sure places? Brown slopes, and lots of bare patches of mountain... Not really as snow sure as people think, wind can strip snow faster than it falls, and being so cocky about their altitude means if the snow doesn't come they don't really have much cannoning ability. so, whilst he was dodging patches I was enjoying some decent pistes at 1300m :D
