It just started snowing and the snow report arrived!

Sorry to have to say this, but please don't believe the J2Ski snow report for this area - the Arber has 80cm of snow. The ladies World Cup skiers managed just fine last weekend!

Runs are currently expected to open on 4th December.

You can also reach the Grosser Arber in the Bavarian Forest from the airport, by bus/train. Plenty of snow here and it won't disappear that quickly. It is also a great place for learning to ski - not as intimidating for beginners as the big resorts. No need to book lessons or equipment although it helps to request English speaking instructors in advance. Head for the village of Bayerisch Eisenstein. There is British owned B&B and apartment accommodation here. The train ticket is called the 'Bayernticket', whichever direction you go.

The Grosser Arber is still a great skiing area.....

Try Bavaria. You will not find that the accommodation is all booked up here for half term weeks, because so few Brits come here (because they don't know about it). The peak week is the local holiday week 2nd-9th February. We have skiing on the Arber, which hosts World Cup races, snowboarding, tobogganing, snow shoe walking and non snow activities. Prices are also a fraction of the glitzy resorts. And you can also get to the Czech ski slopes from here. We still have some half term availability so check out www.bavarian-skiing-holidays.com.

If you come to ski in Bavaria, then the week you mention is NOT peak week - the peak week here is for the Bavarian school holidays, which are 2nd-9th February. You also have the advantage of affordable prices. We can offer 1 week's skiing, including self catering accommodation, half board, ski pass, equipment hire and ski bus tickets for Euro 500 per person for the week for a minimum of 4 people. Nearest airport is Munich. We do only have 1 apartment left for that week because this year we have the others booked up by Brits, but that is unusual, because most Brits don't seem to know that you can ski in Bavaria......
