Looking forward to the Menùs Downhill%s to kick off. There will be 2 team GB skiers doing all 3 Downhill training runs - Ed Drake & TJ Baldwin. They will be vying for the 1 start place GB has for the race at the moment.
I have quite a large amount of equipment/clothing for racing/training for sale.
All is in good to excellent condition. All the money raised will go to TJ Baldwin's training fund with the GB Alpine World cup team.

There has been a European Youth Winter Olympic festival every 2 years since 2005. Team GB has sent a team to every one in about 5 events or so. The Alpine skiers always sent about 6 to compete.
It was held every 2 years as the age span was 15-18 so some could miss out if it was every 4 years. I don't know if the full blown Youth Olympics is every 4 years as there is also an age span for these too?
It's always good to give our younger athletes good experience of top level international competitions too.
They have been named as targets for the GB Junior team to aim for.
Kwame Ready To Race

Miller & ligerty's race strategy was to go flat out 100% and try to win Gold. Nothing else would do. Like all the top racers that is how they train so that is how they race.
Kwame was just trying not to come last. As someone said the only reason he didn't was because the Albanian hiked for around 30 seconds which put him last.
My 15-year-old daughter watched him and turned to me and said - "I could have skied that faster than him!" And she would have done too!

"As Murphy notes, not since the Jamaican bobsleigh team took the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics by storm has there been such a stir of excitement around an unlikely competitor. Born in the UK, Kwame is one of only a few Africans on the World Cup skiing circuit and has spent nearly all his life in Ghana. He returned to the UK in 2000 and began skiing after taking a job at the Milton Keynes SNO!zoine soon after it opoened, soon becoming skilled enough to compete internationally."

There is the spirit of the Olympics I agree. But take the Cayman Islands skier who is competing. A young British lad from an extremely wealthy family who didn't make the grade in the British children's ranks, father fell out with SSGB and so he set up the Cayman Islands ski federation so his son could compete at international levels for them. Is his the same olympic spirit?

Just trying to make the point that you don't have to be very good to be at the Olympics if you are from certain nations.
I actually like to see the very best in the world compete against each other.

Admin Just to correct your write up, Kwame is not on the World Cup circuit. He has never competed in a World Cup race or any of the 'B' tour Continental cup races. Only done some lower level FIS races to get the FIS point required to get to the Olympics. He is world ranked around 4900 in the Slalom which he qualified in.
GB has 39 male Junior (U20) skiers who are higher in the world rankings in slalom. None of those are going to the Olympics.
