This chick is a MORON agent! Wow "you can do this but not that" That's not cool, they are supposed to work around you. Geez I wish I came on here back on the 30th and I would have mapped it for you :p Vacations are fun, spending your life savings on it is not. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a problem.Little ski wrote:
MY SKI TRIP TO EUROPE
Myself and my husband have been planing this trip since August
We live in Perth Australia. I would like to let other people out there how hard it is to go and ski there it's a joke.
I have never been to Europe before my husband has but only Rome.
So because we love to ski/board we thought we would go in winter. Thought we would go for 4 weeks give us time in Paris and to ski.
So we booked our flights they were cheap flights could not exchange or refund.
Booked our time in Paris for a week. We were going to ski Chamonix. But changed our mind and decided to ski Italy and Swaziland instead.
Then it came to book our accommodation in the ski fields we were not told before booking all the ski fields in Europe only do 7 days min stay.
We Only had 11 days to ski so can't stay 11 days in Courmayeur only week to week.
Was a dream to go and ski Zermatt but also out of the question as w-week.
My travel agent said the only place in Europe we can go for 4 nights is st mortiz 'Yea' the most expenses resort in europe we had no where else to go so we booked there.
Now only few weeks till we go. We have not booked our train around to the ski resorts. My travel agent said she could book some trains but not others and that we would have to book it when we are there. NO NOT me I need it planed down to a T And the other reason is because we only speek English so don't want to get stuck. As we are going there on a weekend through to Courmayeur. The tunnel through chamoniz is closed I herd. She said we would have to go up to Geneva and two more stops to the ski field on a bus. That's just to get to Courmayeur one of the two ski fields. Then we have to make our way back to Geneva after st mortiz as we are flying out back home from there. We do have another way fly it. But can't get direct flights into courmayeur and st mortiz
I so wished we had booked to go to Japan or America
Any feed back would be great

Jonah,
I totally agree with you, but presumably there is a very good reason why they have to stick to the completely mad schedule designed by their travel agent (like they've already paid for all their accommodation and they can't cancel it).
There is no way I'd even contemplate doing this much travelling - particularly the journey between Courmayeur and St Moritz. If they stayed in Courmayeur instead they could get a transfer to Geneva airport really easily (1 hour and 1/4) - chamexpress.com quotes only 25 euros from Chamonix to Geneva per person and they run lots of minibuses.

Tony,
How many hours have I 'wasted' bantering wibble with you? And I've never met you either
I do actually enjoy helping people. Of course, sometimes I get paid for it, as in when I'm looking after our holidaymakers and helping them with whatever pickle they've got themselves into - but I do it anyway. We have a long tradition of helping people in my family, which I very much hope my children will continue :D

I think you're right, I'd guessed around £400 so that's a good price and I think nicely cheaper than renting a car and all that hassle.
very good tip, it's not obvious at all and it was seeing other people use it that tipped me off as well.

After spending half my day reading all this I have to ask myself why dont you just cancel and start again.
Train from Paris to Moutiers where you have a choice of Half a dozen world class ski destinations and then Moutiers or resort back to Geneva simple.
I realise you may lose your deposit but it may still work out cheaper, Less hassel plus you get to ski some decent resorts.

But you are quite happy to spend hours on the net looking into travel options for someone you have never come across before?

Well done Littleski, that is an excellent result. I checked on currency converter, and 1058 Australian dollars is £587- which is only £293 each - a bargain I reckon, for all that train travel.
I hope you have a great time, decide to come back to Europe, and next time ask us for advice about your itinerary first :D
Edit
You have to validate your TGV train tickets in France at the station before you get on the train by sticking them in a machine that looks like a yellow parking meter and says 'compostez votre billet' on it. It has a picture on it to show you which way to stick the ticket in and it makes a stamp noise when you get it in the right way. There is a fine for not stamping your ticket before you get on the train, although I have heard that ticket collectors may let foreigners off. I learnt how to use it by watching the other passengers.
