Tell me where you want to be and when, preferred method of travel and type/class of accomodation.

I will provide you with an itinary, list of contact names, numbers and english internet sites.

I will do this for 5% of the total amount of the holiday, which will be substantially cheaper than your travel agent. Hell, I'll come with you and show you around if you like.

I travel throughout Europe extensively for work and pleasure, I do it all my self using t'interweb and have had some amazing experiences In Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy snowboarding. Currently online working out 4 days riding in Finland. I managed to get to Portillo in Chile in summer for 8 days sliding without once talking to an agent.

BTW, I routinely go to Zermatt for 2 or 3 days and have never had trouble with accomodation!! Check out my blog for a few ideas.

Thanks Tino your very kind.

But you do understand it not the accommodation we are looking for it's the train the accommodation is already booked

Its all there on my blog, links to train infor for Austria, Germany and Switzerland. These sites will detail travel into surrounding countries also, all 3 can be used in English.

Little ski, hire a car. With Satnav.

Or, as the rest have said, use the English language sites of the train companies, or as jonG says use RailEurope, which is all in English, and pay online with complete confidence, as many thousands of folks do, I know it;s all a bit daunting but put a little trust in yourself and a very well-proven system, and it will all happen.
Yeah, I knew that.

Just to turn it on it's head, Littleski, in the mid 70's I bought a flight to Aussie, with the offer of a friends floor for a week.
Day 1~ slept
Day 2 ~ bought newspaper, applied for jobs
Day 3 ~ bought a banger of a car for $100, attended 2 job interviews
Day 4 ~ started working, looked at apartments
Day 5 ~ thanked my friends, moved into apartment, 30 yards from beach. Hired skis & boots in ski shop, George St, Sydney
Day 6 ~ drove to Perisher, skied for 5 days.

No planning, no mobile, no internet

Littleski,
That must be very annoying, to live in Australia but to be so far from the ski slopes

I have been thinking about your problem. It's not so easy to get from Paris to Courmayeur and there are several different possible ways of doing it. The following is the result of my research this evening, and may well have a few errors in it.

One way (and I don't know this is the best way), would be to get the train from Paris Gare Lyon leaving at 07:42 and arriving at Torino Porta Susa (Turin) at 13-17 (5 hours 35 minutes) and costing £150.

Then get to the other Turin station Torino Port Nuova (I don't know if you could walk it but they're both in central Turin). Get a train from there leaving at 14-25 arriving at Aosta at 16-35 for £30. Then get another train from there leaving at 17-11 arriving at Pre Saint Didier 17-58 for I think only £14. Finally get a bus or taxi the 5 Km to Courmayeur.

I would suggest phoning Rail Europe to discuss it with them and see if they have a better way of doing it (phone number from the U.K. 08448 484064). You can also pay them over the phone with a credit/debit card if you're happier doing that than doing it over the internet.

It would probably be easier (certainly a lot quicker) to hire a car in Turin and drive to Courmayeur (distance 150 Km time taken one hour 40 mins). Hiring a taxi to drive it would be very expensive - I had an automatic quote from one firm that wanted 346 euros!

Rail Europe should be able to help with getting to St Moritz as well, because St Moritz has a train station.

Courmayeur tourist office telephone number is (39) (0165)842060. It would be a good idea to phone them as well to discuss options.

Best of luck,

Ally

Paris-courmayeur-st mortiz-Geneva all is booked just have to work out how to get around?

a lot of interesting contributions and some little better informed than your travel agent sadly

Paris - Courmayeur, you need to take the TGV to Anney, change to a regular SNCF train to Chamonix and the bus runs to Courmeyeur.

Courmayeur - St Mortiz, back to Chamonix, train via Vallorcine, Martigny etc to St Moritz, it's on the the http://sbb.ch/en/index.htm website

St Mortiz - Geneva, that's just Switzerand so it's simple and on the http://sbb.ch/en/index.htm website

If you check the Swiss Travel Service website they'll be able to tell if there's a special deal on the tickets in Switzerland, there may not be as you're entering and leaving by different points.

That's going to cost you though, and take a few hours.

Ise,
That's a good idea going to Chamonix :D

I did think of going to La Rosiere and then ski-ing over the top to La Thuile, until I remembered all the luggage!

Did you mean Annecy? And have you actually checked the stations, changes and times?

Littleski,
Are you going from Paris to Courmayeur on Saturday March 13th, or Monday March 15th? I am a bit confused (again!),

Ally
