Does anyone know the price of the Hero HD 2 as there's a S/H one being sold on a site over here for €200?
Cloud storage? Are you kidding me? From a ski resort?
I have been lucky to get a half decent connection to browse J2 from the mountains let alone upload gig's of files.
Over the course of a week i will probably fill up around 30gb of data, this is mainly because the battery will die on you, so it wont be running all day everyday.
Unless you have a 64gb + iPad i wouldn't bother trying to use that for storage.
The most convenient option is plenty of SD cards, a 32gb version should be around £20.
I much prefer to take my laptop and copy the files every night. I do this for a few reasons.
1. if the card fails one day i haven't lost the lot.
2. if i loose my camera i haven't lost the lot.
3. I view the files so i can see how me angles are working.
5. I just like to watch my stuff with a few beers each night.
As for Mac/PC compatibility.....you can network the two easily to copy the files across or just use a external HDD of flash Drive to copy across.
Editing : Final cut pro. (although i am only just learning it) or iMovie.
Trust me, a go pro will eat that up.....
I am assuming that you shot less because you had to hand hold your camera Ian? Once its clipped on hands free you tend to forget it and it runs and runs.
I looked up online.
I like to be selective in what I film, I would select what I wanted to film and then turn on the hand free cam.
You are quite correct in using a held held normally I would use normally without gloves so you are limited through cold how long you can film.
But as for battery life with go pros, if you have it it filming non stop I am guessing you are not gonna be able to film pass lunch time without an additional battery . 8)

TowerBridge Andy wrote:Yeh they file store on to SD cards so just take a bunch of them. Im sure i have read that the new ones can operate on cloud storage, obviously this would mean a decent internet signal for uplaoding once back at the hotel/chalet but could save on the need for loads of memory cards!!

If you brought a four gig card from Amazon about £9, it does depend on how much video you will take, I have never filled a 4 Gig card whilst on holiday

I have a 16Gb card in my Gopro 960. Two hours of battery life usually consumes about 8Gb (Obviously more for those with 1080 cameras).

My Gopro arrives today so i'm going to give it some trial run filming before i go skiing in 3 weeks, plan to do a few bike rides and see how it fairs with positioning battery life and what GB card I need, it won't come with card so I will have to get one but comes with chest harness and wrist strap!
As a rule I don't usually wear a helmet skiing (OMG I hear you all gasp in horror!) yes I probably should, anyway not sure I can put on head without one has anyone tried it LOL !!!!!!!!
