Snowbandit,
I think that's a very sensible decision. There are several main roads here shut now because of the new snow and drifting of the old snow(even to tractors and 4X4's), and they are saying that anywhere here over 200 metres is likely to be hit by heavy snow and blizzards all night until tomorrow morning. Driving to Somerset at the moment doesn't seem to be a very good idea!

And I expect you could do with a good rest :D

Take care :D

Ally, it's looking very much like I made the right decision. Lot's of reports of stranded motorists in the South West. IMO the schools made the wrong decision in not postponing the interviews.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I looked out of the window this morning to see a fresh blanket of snow. In SE London we didn't see that coming! Today I can enjoy it and don't need to worry about flights or interviews!

thank you everyone,

Ally, I want to get my own life back - all my hopes dreams and aspirations were hers, lost most of my hobbies and stopped seeing alot of friends. The relationship consumed me totally so I feel like I barely have a life worth living without her. I gave her everything and myself nothing - Im going to go home and work on ME who I have been neglecting - my health, hobbies, interests, aspirations, dreams, friends.

That is the only positive - sorting myself out. I just wish I didnt have to do it without her.

RoseR, Im afraid it doesnt look like we can work it out. She is 26 and been in consuming and dependant relationships since she was 17 and now that I have helped her become strong and independant she wants a shot at living her life without depending on me and being in a relationship. just to be selfish and do what SHE wants. I can understand in a way but she is throwing so much away as our relationship has been amazing until recently.

Things have been on the decline with us for a few months now and although I dont want to spit up I do need some of my own time to focus on me, so does she. She doesnt know what she wants but doesnt want to be involved with anyone right now - and Im afraid when she realises what she wants it wont be me.

jastem, thank you. I have been on the phone to my mum for hours since this has happened and to be honest when your life is devastated like this knowing you have people who care about you is one of the only reasons for caring about living.

Getting back on topic, its been snowing in ADH for about the last 12 hours - looks like a good few inches. Im going back to sleep for a bit, so I can forget about everything, but will probably take a quick slide later before returning the skis as it looks like we are flying home tomorrow.

Snowbandit,
We've got more snow here as well, but only about 1/2 an inch (I've just been out to measure it!). The problem is, we still have ice from before, underneath the snow, which makes driving and walking very dangerous.

My daughter is very cross that I wouldn't buy her skis and boots, because otherwise she'd have been able to ski 2 miles down our road during the last week, on the snow. Our road looked exactly like one of those narrow blue runs - the sort that are roads in the summer.

The day before yesterday, I actually took the public bus into town - the first time in nearly 40 years of living here, because of the snow and ice in our lane.

I totally agree with you, the interview board must have been mad, making the job candidates drive to Somerset through that sort of weather.

Sami,
I've just seen your latest. I'm so sorry for you.

Enjoy your last ski today before you fly back tomorrow.

Best Wishes

Sami,
I hope you can find a flight. It might be a bit difficult mid-week, because I think quite a few of the flights to and from regional airports are geared towards ski holidays, which usually start on Saturday. Otherwise you will have to go to another airport, maybe even Geneva, to find a flight.

You might be better off sticking it out until Saturday, when at least you have a flight booked back to the U.K.

Let us know if you find a flight home.
