Lets face it, theres far more chance of sustaining a serious injury driving on that road than there is skiing.

On top of which the poor boy hit a tree at speed ,,,with or without a helmet the injury would have been serious as the damage is caused by the brain rattling around in the skull

"Skiing into trees can severely affect your health"
That would work more. In fact maybe skis should come with a health & safety booklet (thesis) when you buy/rent them
