The forecast for the next few days suggests it might, -13 forecast as the highest temp for friday night (but seems dubious). It might warm up a little bit early next week. But only to about 1 or 2 degrees.
Hopefully the extended period of cold before then will mean everything stays frozen.

Im slightly concerned as seems theres been some high wwinds and already some brown patches sre appearing. There seems to be a hefty amount set to come mondy and tuesday . I just hop it does. Anyone know if they have started with snow cannons or even prepping the piste ? Seems on the web cams the grand montet is deserted and thats due to open in 6 days ??????? Anyone got any news on les houches ?? Looks cracking on the webcams.

I'll be in Les Houches today so I'll have a look. As far as i know there is no piste preparation going on yet, but I'll check.
Tuesday/Wednesday should be good for low level snow, over 30cm predicted at 1000m, 70cm+ at 200m. There is a fair bit of rain forecast at 1000m for monday, which is a shame, hopefully it wont melt much snow.

Damn lets hope it stays colder or not warm for too long. Reading online its said that les houches will open 15/16th december for weekend. Is there enough snow around in your opinion for them to be able to open anhthing up yet ???

Grand montets is set to open next saturday. Would there be any reason if the snow was there for them not to open ??? Have you eber known them not to open whe posted ?? Or on the other hand openearlier than advertised. I know coming opening weekend is a risk but its not like theres no snow around.

Thank you for you on the ground updates.

If not we are cancelling our hotel and heading to tignes where the runs are already opening...

Matt, I received this from Chamonix Tourist Office earlier in the week...
Chamonix TO wrote:The Grands Montets will open daily from the 8th December onwards. Les Houches ski area may well open on the 8th aswell, but we do not yet have confirmation.

The forecast is for it to stay cold; there might be rain in the town around Tuesday but it's marginal... looks more likely it'll snow most of next week with the snow line unlikely to go above 1100m.

Grands Montets could be pretty close to epic next weekend... 8)

I was there opening weekend last year and we were in a meter of fresh powder. Words cant do it any justice. Was amazing. Just hope they open on time... as we are there in two weeks again and this time im bringing 5 friends after seeing the footage from last year . They will bs seriously unhappy if the lifts arent open..
