Hi All, I've ended up booking an apartment in Niederau as it was the only place in a resort for a family of 4 for less than 700 euros for the New Year week. I'm driving down and will
be going to other resorts each day with my son.I've got a six seater vehicle that can take everyones ski grear, so i'll have space for 4 each day (my wife and daughter will be staying in Niederau each day) If you purchase a Kitbuheler Alpen Card you can also ski in Soll/Brixental/Hopfgarten area which isn't included on the local pass. Obviuosly you can take a bus to other resorts but i'm happy to drive as i've done the same thing year after year. Probably better if i was to hook up with another father & son/daughter, Instead of 4 lads who want to get on the lash(i'll save that for my lads holiday !). Happy to drive 40 mins each way to good resorts, so earlyish start but some great resorts within the radius.
If your up for some mileage over the new year week get in touch. Sorry if i gave the impression that i'm not keen on Niedreau, i apologise, but it's very limited once you can ski and enjoy more of a challenge. Thanks for reading

Paul

There is a large group of us going to Soll over Xmas and New Year all families, been going for years mixed group all levels of skiers.
Nearer the date we should get in touch and maybe meet up for a day ,we tend to use Sheffau/Soll/Westendorf etc always good fun..we also have transport as several families drive over every year. cheers Clay

Sounds like a plan. Yes would be good to meet up with some other brits while away. I've skied
in the Ski Amade area alot over the last 5 years, and brits are as rare as Dodos over that way. It's a shame as there's some big ski ares eg Kleinar - Flachau - Zauchensee. Granted it's not like some of the monster huge French areas but plenty to ski as a family, with £10 a head for a meal with a beer it wins over lefrog ! Will be in touch nearer the time.

I will be based in Niederau as usual this Winter. I agree that the skiing is dull there after about an hour. We normally head out from Westendorf because the parking is much better than Hopfgarten and only 5 mins further.....and I like Weestendorf a lot. Also with the right ski pass you can get a short bus at the bottom of Kiwest and over to Kitzbühel. My boys are 17 and 13 - they ski and board.

"Obviuosly you can take a bus to other resorts" (sic)........well you mean the bus to Auffach basically!!! Regretfully no buses down to SkiWelt except the occasional Thursday/Friday thing I think that one of the hotels organises.

Auffach is obviously pretty good now it links to Alpbach, but the gondola up gets VERY busy at peak times. So busy I have driven there before, taken a look, and turned around and gone back to Westendorf. So now I only go on the less obviously busy days.
