I agree with you by the time we got to the Alps, I think I would be only one left on the coach

Just think, some transfers take 4+ hours, especially if you have to wait for another flight to arrive before your coach can leave!!

It's amazing how much time it takes by plane, taking all into account. But I do it every year without thinking:
1.5.hrs to airport (depends where you live of course)
0.5 hrs to park & shuttle
2.0 hrs check-in
2.0 hrs flight with taxiing etc
0.5 hrs baggage reclaim
0.75 hrs waiting on transfer coach (if you're lucky)
3.00 hr transfer (long one this year!)
0.5 hr drive break/splitting load on route
0.5 hr drop-off routine
-----
11 hrs give or take.
Ok say you're not going to have worst case at every step but easily 9 hrs is predictable.

if I'm not skiing then I'm kayaking.

I had to think about this myself after seeing the previous post:

Hmmm. 7.5 hours to St Anton flying out of Stansted for me.

I like.

I remember travelling to spain on the coach, it was 25hrs.
Once you get into these kind of journeys its not so bad, as long as you get a decent coach with a loo.

Ive not had had any experience a ski trip on a coach but would be interested to hear how you get on as i have looked at them.
Skied: Arinsal, La Plagne, Alpe D'huez, Flaine, Les Arcs, Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz, Sauze, Courchevel, Val Thorens
