There is a fair bit of snow forecast for next week over most of Austria

Oh yeah? Not that I spotted on any forecast!!

Season kicked off kinda OK, but its been rather pants the last 7 days. We really need some new snow.

Got my brand new Nitro Pantera 168 Wide with Machine bindings and waiting on my new boots.......so we neeeeeeed some new snow!!!

Edit: I can see Friday looking like some snow, so Saturday might be OK. I'm doing an avalanche course this weekend.

I am a bit in love with Westendorf this year. But Kirchbichl also a good suggestion above. Close to Munich you could also look at Zell am See or Saalbach-Hinterglimm.

Not very keen on Garmisch myself......Austria is nicer than Germany for skiing.

Yeh I would do the train rather than a car, but either works OK. But you wont need the car once you arrive as long as you stay in town and/or dont mind a ski bus.

But.......you are aware that Kitzbühel is the #1 most expensive and upmarket resort in Austria?

I'm only 15 minutes up the road from Kitzbühel but never go there myself. Not my kinda scene and I prefer other ski areas actually.

No. It was off to a good start but wheels are currently falling off. Up to 10 degrees on Christmas day at town level and no snow is crap.

There are of course bits of off piste all over. I like going under the Niederau gondola, and there is another unpisted run shown as a black on the very left of the piste map.

When it is proper heavy you can start on the blue from the top and then dive off left through the trees (gets a bit mental!!).

Auffach also has a few fun bits between the runs. Dunno about Alpbach until they open this Saturday!! But just had 2 days of new snow here.

Naughty buggers at Auffach are not opening the new lift until NEXT Sunday.

as Dave mentioned.....cheaper still just get the regular yellow POST bus up from Wörgl to Niederau.
