Have only skied down to the bottom a few times coming from Hopfgarten. Going to the ski welt on 12th and will be having a look at Itter as a few deals came up last minute but had already bookked. Reading the info on these it didnt look like any restaurants or bars or supermarkets around, So would probably have to head into Soll by taxi. Will post when I get back if i find out more.

Hi Kareh Haven't stayed in Itter but been many times to the Skiwelt, staying in Soll. There' s plenty of restaurants & supermarkets there & also a recently revamped swimming complex. Buses between resorts by day but may need a taxi in the evenings. Great skiing options from Itter - enjoy!

Oh thank you. I have seen two places that may be ok. One in utter and one in Scheffau. How far is solo from itter in a taxi? Do u reckon it would cost very much? We would probably only do that a couple times though as we tend to just stay in the apartment at night and rarely venture out. The one in itter is next to a lift and the one in Scheffau is next tot the bus stop.

Hi Karen. Not sure how far it is by road I'm afraid but don't think it very far. there's a good taxi service based in Soll -Taxi Stefan. If you google him you could give him a ring to check prices. The main choice I think to be made between Itter & Scheffau, seeing as you don't want too much nightlife, is access to the slopes. If your staying close to the gondola in Itter that'll take you straight up the mountain in the morning (& you can ski back down again at the end of the day - no fuss). In Scheffau, the village is across the road from the slopes so bus essential - both ways, even if you ski back down at the end of the day. Scheffau though is higher so conditions there likely to be better than Itter but looks like there's plenty of snow around at the moment so that shouldn't be a problem. We choose Soll because as well as the skiing, we love the après but Itter sounds good if you want quieter evenings. Whichever you decide on I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Hi Karen, I stayed in Itter last March. There is very little in the village, a tiny supermarket that sells the basics, a ski shop and a couple of hotels, the nightlife is non existent.

We did have an apres evening in Soll, the taxi back was about 12 euros and not far at all.

If you aren't near the gondola and in the village itself there are two options for getting up the mountain; you can either ski across a field which can take 20 minutes (there is a drag lift which will get you some speed at the beginning) or get the bus, of which are few and far between and is usually packed.

We chose the bus option after the first day of trying to ski over, it's quicker for a start, despite being full of school kids as well as skiers, it takes literally a few minutes.

Where are you thinking of staying in Itter?

thanks for you replies. it is hard to tell what the snow conditions are like at the moment in Austria. I haevnt booked anything so I am toing and froing over lots of different countries. still weighing up my sella ronda options lol as well as the milky way, oh and i had also fancied belle plagne.

anyway i digress, here is what the description of the itter apartment says
"Our house is located directly at the lift is connected to the green pistes. You pull the skis in front of the house and drive to be connected without difficulty lift."
