Ischgl talking about opening mid-Jan. I assume they could just stop the Samnaun lift connection.

But to open from 18th January looking super optimistic 'cos everyone has a 7-day average incidence above 100 per 100,000.

So I expect the current 10 day quarantine for visitors from outside Austria to continue.
Yes. This season is an effective write-off for skiers from the UK.
I hear ya :-) If it helps, the lift companies are not happy.
I am expecting the Pfizer vaccine to be approved at the meeting in Amsterdam tomorrow and they are ready in Austria and Germany to start an immediate deployment. But this will be too late to save the ski season I think.....but we "might" see some easing of restrictions by the end of Feb possibly.

p.s. Lifts are still opening on 24th December but you must wear an FFP2 Mask in the lifts - regular cotton stuff not good enough.
Above now extended to 18th January. Gets more complicated as they are testing the population on 16th and 17th January. If you don't get tested then it's an extra week in quarantine until 25th January.
Anyone bought an apartment in a ski resort?

A bit like Nurick - I have my house in Niederau which has pretty crap local runs so my default is always the car to someplace with decent skiing. But it is nice on the odd day to stay local if you just want to do an hour and then have a beer/food etc without driving. So also consider a small cheapo resort BUT with decent drivable skiing.

Yup. I now normally skip it as well, and take the new chair from the Hopfgarten mid-level, or ski down and towards Itter etc. Unless we have new snow, in which case I just ski off either side in the off-piste which is dandy.

I know the 112 in Westendorf, but it is usually without moguls, and usually has few punters as the access is not "obvious". But actually the nastiest run in Ski Welt is the 2c off the top of Hopfgarten (Hohe Salve). When THAT is icy and/or moguled and also filled with people falling over it is a proper nasty piece of work.
