I can't see past Monday on my reliable forecaster......but its only a little rain over Saturday night. Certainly looking cooler by Monday.

Auffach is 10 mins on ski bus which also links into Alpbach now. Hopfgarten is 10 mins by taxi/car. For height you can go to Zillertal.
Auffach is a parking nightmare these days. |

Trust me. I have a house there. 2 or 3 years ago the last snow was on about January 20th (I remember as was just before my birthday) and they managed to drag the season out right to the bitter end. Niederau slopes are on the shaded side so frankly it's just not an issue. They have easily enough depth to last the season even if it never snows again.
The only real danger is warm weather and rain - THAT is what truly buggers things up. As long as it stays cold then you are sorted. Personally I hate normal bashed pistes, as a boarder I live for powder, but the slopes are always at least usable in Niederau. Some people like skiing on pistes but it just bores me rigid without new snow. |

Ooops bit late. Saturday was great with some very useable off piste in Hopfgarten etc.
My kids did Niederau on Sunday and managed to ski down under the Gondola, so there is a good layer. We also have snow over the next couple of days. I was boarding on Sunday in Westendorf for the avalanche training course, but my other son snapped a Metarcapal bone in the hand in a crash, so he is plastered for a few weeks. So the day ended for me at lunchtime. So it's not half a metre of off piste madness, but generally consistent, colder and very useable. I have visitors out next 2 weekends so hope it stays good. |

I am there later this afternoon, and most of January, so will let ya know the full score tomorrow. It was rainy and rubbish last weekend, but temperatures have dropped and there is snow forecast.
I also need it to improve for late January!! |
