Even has a lapdancing bar if that way inclined.
Westendorf rocks. Skiing is excellent and apre-ski is as scarey or as calm as you want. Actually I like a beer but a couple of the places end up like Sodom and Gomorrah with mental dutch people. But they have typical pubs and bars. Trust me........can't go wrong in Westendorf.
p.s. Bear in mind that Auffach is now directly linked to ALPBACH.......so it's a whole new and better game since last season. They spend 15 Million on the lift so be rude not to use it!!!
If there is snow......I will be in Niederau as my base basically......so for sure there over New Year. Probably from around the 20th December to 10th January (but I do the 24th in Munich).

Got some buddies will be around as well - one guy with 2 boys aged 13 and 11 who also has a SkiWelt season pass etc. Plus my sons have mates....there will be people!!! Stay in contact.
p.s. I quite like some runs in Niederau when they have fresh powder.......but frankly I love ANY runs when they have fresh powder so it's hardly a recommendation as such. But under the main gondola is fun, and straight through the woods and down the forest roads when there is serious snow.
"Obviuosly you can take a bus to other resorts" (sic)........well you mean the bus to Auffach basically!!! Regretfully no buses down to SkiWelt except the occasional Thursday/Friday thing I think that one of the hotels organises.

Auffach is obviously pretty good now it links to Alpbach, but the gondola up gets VERY busy at peak times. So busy I have driven there before, taken a look, and turned around and gone back to Westendorf. So now I only go on the less obviously busy days.
I will be based in Niederau as usual this Winter. I agree that the skiing is dull there after about an hour. We normally head out from Westendorf because the parking is much better than Hopfgarten and only 5 mins further.....and I like Weestendorf a lot. Also with the right ski pass you can get a short bus at the bottom of Kiwest and over to Kitzbühel. My boys are 17 and 13 - they ski and board.

One of the guys I ski off-piste with is 72 next season - a wicked and fearless skiier. He actually started skiing in the late 1950's.

I am 47 and hope to get another 20 years+ if I live that long etc. I had a knee operation last year but was 100% fine for the last season.

Must admit I rather enjoy doing some jumps in the funpark and when I take my helmet off at the bottom the kids see it's some old git with grey hair.
