Im sure Im quoting Davemac/Jan here, but because the slopes in Niederau are north facing they hold the snow fairly well for a low altitude resort so I wouldnt let that concern you to much. 8)

But as bandit said before, it depends what you are looking for pavb2. Niederau is a great place for kids though, as there are plenty of activities (tobogganing, sleigh rides etc). Prices for niederau (certainly through a TO) can be relatively cheap compared to other resorts in Austria though! :D

In a word....YES!!!! Cue various people telling you why......Dave Mac? Jan?

From my experience its a great place, and the ski school (red) are amazing! In fact, I will be off there on the 3rd January hopefully! :D 92 days to go!!!!!

Pav, will you sign my expenses?

Is anyone seriously going to be around in Niederau the week of the 3rd-10th? (I will!) Or is the J2ski gathering going to be 2010?

The only thing Hall got wrong was relinquishing power to Shepard!! The current state is a joke, I am losing all interest/faith in football :(

I know quite a few fans who have given up altogether on Newcastle now! The numbers at the match have dwindled accordingly, there were only 19,000 at the last cup tie, and there are 8,000 less at league games. My dad, who used to travel from all over the country for home games, never missing a match, can now take it or leave it! Its a complete joke. I dont think Ashley realised what he was doing when he hired Keegan! He really WAS indispensible to the Geordies!!!!

Tell me about it! :( Never thought the fans would say it but 'Bring back Shepard and Hall, all is forgiven'

I have never seen as many angry Geordies in one place in my life after Keegan was forced out by the demon Mike Ashley and his little mate Wise.....even after the previous owners called all fans mugs, and all Geordie women dogs!!!!

And how will we match up real names with j2ski names? I reckon we will all end up posting on both!!!
Brilliant stories!!!!

I don't have any stories that match Pavels, my 'embarrassing' moment was far more common place! My first day skiing, we had been side stepping up the nursery slope all day, then our instructor decided we were ready to get the button lift up to the top, explained how to get on, and off we went. When we had finished a friend and I decided we wanted to go again, so went for our first lone lift up the nursery slope.

Being only the second time, I was very conscious of not holding people up, so quickly grabbed the button lift, ready to go, only I forgot the most important thing......keep you skis parallel!!! (You can see where this is going!) One ski goes up the side of the lift station, the other goes over my head as I land spectacularly flat on my back.

Obviously my skis come off, only my friend is laughing so hard, she cant stand up straight, let alone help me get my skis back on, and not realising lift etiquette, I stand with the lift stopped- getting my skis back on, while my friend (and the rest of the queue) are doubled over laughing!!! So much for not holding people up!!!

Looking back, I would have loved to see myself fall, my friend insists it was spectacular to see!!!

I'm more than happy posting the odd message or two here but still feel a bit intimidated posting threads on the sailing forums I also visit.

I think ellistine has hit the nail on the head about feeling self conscious despite being anonymous! The fear of a joke/comment being taken the wrong way is one reason I re-read my comments about 10 times!!! Maybe a sarcastic smiley, or an only kidding smiley (not sure what it would look like) would be a good way for people to more confident about their posts!!

I really dont think there is a problem with friendlyness on here, I have never seen any real conflicts and the gentle banter (particularly Niederau vs Mayrhofen) is generally quite amusing!!

Wouldnt it be a very boring place to be if everyone had the same opinions! (At least we all agree on one thing......snowsports are the best!!!) :D
