As much as I love Niederau, if you are all boarders it may not be the best place for you....there are lots of drag lifts and a few flat bits.... [not trying to put you off so us skiiers can have the slopes to ourselves you understand... :twisted:] However, Auffach is about 15 minutes away on the same lift pass and is perfect for boarders so it'd still be worth looking into, it tends to be very reasonably priced....

I agree there, when we were in Niederau they were preparing the Black run for the International ski race while we were coming down, its amazing how quickly those machines move, it was quite scary being on the piste at the same time as them :shock: (although I know we wouldnt have been taken on there if it wasnt safe for us to be there).

As for the different views, I think the opinions of Niederau being to easy/limited (as Tony_H says), or to difficult for intermediates (as karen72 says) just highlights that everyones needs are different and there is a limit to how much you can recommend a resort without fully knowing someones level. :?

Niederau is often championed as an excellent resort for beginners/early intermediates, me being one of the people doing the championing....I learnt there myself last year (and again this year) and the instruction is amazing. However I think that is only the case if the beginners/early intermediates are either extremely confident, or in ski school (Im one of the ones who needs ski school!!!), so it is difficult to advise whether a resort will suit someone or not, without knowing their ability/confidence!!!

I feel bad that you didnt have a great time karen72, as I was one of the people who highly recommended Niederau, but I think maybe now that you know what it is you want from your ski holiday, you will be better placed for finding a resort that suits you all!!!

At the end of the day though all that doesnt matter because to me it doesnt really matter where I'm skiing.....as long as there's snow to play on I'm happy!!! :lol:

I dont get on here as much as I want to anymore, I spent all last summer while writing up my thesis on here, but now working as a cancer researcher so dont get much chance to post, always try and stay up to date with what everyone's up to though!!!

Would it be classed as procrastinating if every time I logged onto a computer the first web page I go to is this one, shortly followed by the Auhof webcam (even though its over 5 weeks since I was in N!). Even Facebook doesnt hold the same appeal as this site!!!!

I spent the whole time writing my thesis last summer logged on here, I would write a sentence, update Latest Ski chat, write another sentence, update.....! A 270 page document...thats a lot of Ski chat read in between!!!! :lol: Pavels quizzes were the most addictive though!!! Unfortunately, now they are paying me to do real work I have to minimise how long I spend on here....dammit! I do love reading everyones banter though (apart from the few occassions it has got a bit heated!)....which makes it hard to refrain from staying on here all day!!! :oops:

Skiing is immense, by far the best thing you could ever learn IMO! :D

I need a cure to the post-ski blues kind of ski-sickness, and I need it NOW!!!! All this talk of Niederau in the other thread is not helping!!!! :lol:

Ray is ace....I have a picture of him singing 'Mustang Sally' as a heartfelt homage to his ex-board! I missed the funeral of his board coz though the guy who mounts them on the wall wasnt around for the 'ceremony' the week we were there :lol: I tried to convince him to set up a facebook group for O Malleys so I could put the pictures up!

Poor Ray, I hope he's back boarding soon!

I have posted a few pictures on the facebook group from niederau....there's a couple from Auffach too (which is under the same lift pass) where the snow was even nicer! Im so jealous of you lot still waiting to go!!! :cry:
