A few people have flagged up apparent hostility in the forum on a number of levels. I think it is a bit ridiculous personally but was interested to find out what others thought?
As a small forum I believe new members receive a pretty good welcome in comparison to elsewhere ie. TGR.

Yes I thought we were a friendly bunch with a bit of harmless banter and fun. I have had some really useful information from here.
Crikey. I would never have imagined anyone feeling like that.
I do think there are some cliques, yes. I would probably get labeled in the "Mayrhofen gang" but thats only because I have been there a number of times and love the place.
I do know what you mean about people liking to make out they are big time. Theres a couple on here who give off a "mightier than thou" and put everyone and everything down all the time.
There are also a few, myself included, who just like to have a bit of banter about the one thing in life that they really get passionate about.
Very sorry to hear you feel like that, Juliet. Please dont stop posting. Its a great place to share knowledge, and pick up info, have a bit of a laugh and just share your experiences.
There are 2 regular users on here who I have a lot of admiration for, because not only are they hugely experienced, but they are down to earth with it and dont mind sharing it all with the world.
I for one would be upset if we lost you.
You often find that it takes a complete beginner or newbie (not that I am saying you are either) to throw up a question that really gets an experienced skier to think about something he or she has never considered before.
J2ski is my favourite (I do post on Snowheads too) because people on here are friendly and will answer questions unlike on SH where they would just give a flippant remark or grumpily tell you that it has been asked 200 times before. SH posters are a good bunch of people but I find that some can get nasty.
that's an extremely broad statement and not one that I can agree with (being much less experienced than you by the sound of it).
the advice I've been given on here since january has been priceless
sorry juliet. no offence

I wouldn't like to think I was 'flagging' up an issue at all. However, I am sure that your message is aimed at me.
The reason j2ski is not the #1 ski website (when it should be really) is because it is cliquey. There are no show offs on 'snowheads' but then again there isn't the knowledge on snowheads that there is on so j2ski. J2ski has created a niche in that regard.
j2ski has found good skiers. I ski reds and I'm scared of blacks. I don't feel good enough for this forum and that is how this forum makes people feel.
I won't repeat myself but there are people on this forum who I really admire.
I'm not too sure I'll post again.

It was half directed at you but another of the forums users, one whom you admire, also raised the issue a couple of days ago. So definitely half and half. I don't believe there are any show offs on J2ski either but thats my opinion.
J2Ski has found a varied and knowledgeable group of skiers, right from those of us who have not yet skied a single day (but remain enthusiastic about snow) right up to instructors and Pavel ) .
I think it has a distinct advantage over other forums due to the size of it and varied membership.
