THANK YOU TO THE PERSON WHO RECOMMENDED LOCKWOODS IN LEAMINGTON SPA. Cos of you, we went there just today, and hey presto - got a fitting which took about 2-3 hours in all, and now have perfect boots. Obviously haven't skiied in them yet, but to come away with the sense of confidence is brilliant. My feet hurt in my old boots every day, especailly when two toes went numb and then screamed out at me. I hsad to stop skiied down a red and take them off immediately. I can now move my toes, but the boot still fits snugly. Perfect I hope and Lockwoods is a real find. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much both of you. Will definitely look at the Claudia. It's easy reading up on other places to stay or going to tourist office, but if you don't know the layout of the town or the lifts, then the location of each hotel/B&B doesn't make a lot of sense to you. Thanks for the name of Claudia though - will look and let you know.

Hi. We've just returned from skiing in Zell am Zee and loved it, however we want to go to Ellmau next year. We will be booking direct, rather than through a travel agent and would love somewhere to stay which is close to the lifts or cablecar. We want EITHER a hotel (good one), or a good quality apartment, which maybe does breakfasts. Most important is NOT to have to use a bus to get to the lifts in the morning. Any ideas anyone?

Avoriaz is great. It's high and snow superb even late in season. I've been twice last week in March, so wouldn't be that much different fo4r you in first week April. Ski in and out too. Mostly apartments in Avoriaz though.

I'm sure you've booked already, however the Sella Ronda is great. If you've a car even better. Ortisei is fabulous and easy to get to the sella ronda each day by car, or ski bus. And it's relatively untouristy. WE were there last year and half term made no difference. We went a weds to a weds with the 2nd half of our stay in half term. No difference at all.

Hi. You are about to have a real treat. Ortisei is absolutely fantastic. The town is the largest of the Val Gardena towns. Don't know your appartments per se, but looked at them on the website ourselves last month and know that they're situated in the ideal location.
When you want an easier days skiing then it's ideal to get up in a dablecar to Alpe de Suise. If you want the Sella Ronda then you can ski to the start of it, but it's about a 45 min ski just to get to the actual sella ronda. However, the ski bus is easy to get from the main road in Ortisei. First stop is St Christina, and then Val Gardena. You can access the Sella Ronda by either town, but the Val Gardena is the best. Only about 6 miles and very easy. Eating out is easy in Ortisei from the pricy to the pizzas. However, it's a lovely town and no downmarket stuff. Remember though that there are so many mountain restaruants and hoosetts as we call them, that you'll be spoilt for choice. I'm jealous..................... |

go on a singles ski holiday. I was in the same position as you. It works really well. You are principally on your own, but not. You;'re just with like-minded people who want a good time on the slopes, and if you pick the right company it doebns't have to be 18-30 and apres-ski all the time. I went with a group 33 - 64, and it was lovely.

does it have to be Switzerland? I'd suggest going to Avoriaz, which is in France, but very high and you ski into Switzerland. Fabulous for beginners and advanced too. If it has to be Switzerland, I don't know the resort names, but if you find Avoriaz it's on the Swiss border, so the nearest Swiss resort there would be good.
