I got a bit soft spot for Zell, it's where I learnt to ski 4 years ago and always try and get back at least once in a season even if only for a short break.

Lift passes are generally pretty well set price wise so i just pick up in resort (though the way the £ has weakend since brochures were printed it might be worth checking out any deal with your travel company).

I have my own kit, but if I'm hiring for my daughters I always book in advance after being stung when waiting till in resort a few years ago. I guess I maybe have got a better price if I'd taken a bit more time and wandered round the resort haggling, but lets face it - who wants to waste vauable ski time doing that once you get there - you just want to clip on those skis and GO!

I've always got a fair price by searching online and comparing a few suppliers - many shops will appear on various different sites and it's amazing how the price can vary , so don't just grab the first one. Alsio check that everything is included, sometimes it looks like it boots/skis/poles, but actually you have to tick another box to get the 'with boots' price.

Good luck anyway, I may see you on the piste as I'm in Zell am See just up the road from 1/3 - 5/3 and plan to spend a day skiing over in Saalbach and checking out a few chalets fro a group trip next year.

Just a thought but why not do week in one 'base' resort and then 2nd week in another 'base' resort... not to close (but close enough to do a bus/rail transfer to) and max the ground you cover ?

Hunting for somewhere for the New Year week myself so if you see any good deals.......

:)

Destination for a week 2009/10 season

I'd go with Zermatt, I skied Crans Montana for a week last year and really enjoyed it - but that was because of the group i was with rather than the diversity of the sking, I'd have been getting board after 3/4 days otherwise (though the resort bars and hotels were very enjoyable). Now Zermattt on the other hand I still want to get back to again and explore more...

Save Crans for a short break sometime.

A couple of our guys found a bar upstairs the other week, they even managed to blag some seats - and on a SATURDAY!

Have a good one....

Maybe best looking for a resort with a high proportion of gondolas/cable cars ?

If you can find someone with a DVD/Video combo unit you should be able to transfer to DVD no problem, i bought one recently to transfer all my daughters dancing videos to DVD and it worked a treat.

If your anywhere near Bristol I'd be more than happy to do it for you.
