I've been looking at schladming for next year, and think it looks great. Plenty to go at, there was a thread on her about the place last week I think.
I'd get it booked if I were you.

Just a thought but why not do week in one 'base' resort and then 2nd week in another 'base' resort... not to close (but close enough to do a bus/rail transfer to) and max the ground you cover ?

Hunting for somewhere for the New Year week myself so if you see any good deals.......

:)

i phoned a couple of the tour operator's for twin resort prices and it worked out cheaper to stay in one place for 2 weeks they charge £150 on top to transfer resorts, and i know it sounds daft being a solo traveller but i would be a bit nervous travelling resort to resort on my own lol, i like to know once i get off the plane on the other side i am taken care of. long as they have ski skool i can book into so i know i'm not skiing alone i'm fine, i'm not a party animal a few beers in the bar after dinner and i am whacked out by 10 ish.

Just got back from Schladming again and the conditions were brilliant. There is still loads of skiing there relatively locally that we have not done but that is party due to the fact we have our favourite mountains. Schladming is a working town and not just a ski resort and as a result alot of Austrian city folk ski there. Brits are about but not in the numbers you will find elsewhere.
Two weeks as a lone traveller and 'what is there to do?' You may have to do a little research for yourself on that as because we go for a week, ski and abit of Apres are all we need. I am more than happy to answer any direct queries you may have so PM me.
