Has anyone ever been to Heiligenblut ???

My OH fancies some winter (horse) riding at a hotel near here in March and it sound slike an ideal opportunity to sneak in a couple of days on the snow.

Skiing in Zell am See

I learnt to ski in Zell am See so have something of a soft spot for it and usually get back every season even if just for a few days - and am never dissapointed. (I'll be in Kaprun this Nov. and Zell for a few days in March 2009).

Black runs 13 & 14 are great fun and as prvious poster mentioed red 10 down to Shuttdorf can be a killer at the end of the day if it's chopped up. The red runs over on sonnenalm are pretty good and it's usually quiter in that sector to.

Some nice places to eat on the mountain and the new TrassXpress gondola that opened for last season has vastly improved the uplift from Schmittental which used to be a real bottlneck. Lots of good apres in town to.

I'm part of a group heading for Kaprun to ski on the kitzsteinhorn glacier area on 20th Nov. It's my third year on this start of season trip (and I beilive this is the fifth year it's run), it's always been a good laugh with a great crowd of people from beginners through to experts. Last year we even got to ski over in Zell am See the early season conditions were so good.

I think theres still places on the trip as a friend emailed me earlir this evening to say she had managed to wangle the time of and booked.

Would you consider hiring a car ? We did last year and it actually worked out less then the cost of a private transfer and it was great having it to run around in.

If your trying to skate using the hire ones they give you at the rinks I'm not suprised! I have ice-skated for years, but when i had to resort to those onetime instead of using my own they almost killed me.

Mmmmm

Wish I had some free time in October... :-(

Think I could be tempted by a trip there in May 09 though.
