What did you think of Hintertux ? I've been thinking of trying that next year.

Have only done Kaprun in early/mid November, but it was starting to get quite extensive by then, that was 2006, 2007 was so good (as we all know) that they had opened the Zell am See lifts by the time w got there so we made good use of that instead.

Have skied in summer at Zermatt, fairly limited and not the most exciting, but I went more to keep my elgs working and improve my technique with a few lessons so it served it's purpose and plenty to do in the afternoon when the lifts closed.

Very interested in this as I have a pair of B5i's and love them but god those bindings - couldn't believe the differnce in weight after they were fitted to the skis.

Any suggestions for a good intermediate/early advance skier ?

Have skied Zell am See many times with mixed groups from beginners to experts and always had fun and you've always got Kaprun on hand in case of a poor snow year.

Have seen the 2 faces of Bansko - a short off peak break in late March 2007 was very pleasant with everyone appearing very charming and very enjoyable skiing even if parts of the town loooked like a bomb site - watch where you walk or you'll break an ankle/leg just walking round town never mind the slopes - though the older part of the toen and some of the older bar/resturants were fantastic.

What a difference when i went back in a peak week with the family in 2008 - total chaos for lift passes, gondola, parking, ski school and in many cases grossly inflated prices since it was a busy week with everyone discourteous or disinterested. Suffice to say we ended up booking flights to fly home 3 days early as it was the worst ski holiday we had ever had.

Personally I'd stick with Austria for organistaion and great apres ski, or if you want a high snow sure but reasonably priced resort try Passo Tonale not the most picturesqu of locations but the El Bait bar does some fantastic unusual beers as well as free apres ski snacks which always makes a nice end to the day.

Looks like I finally found 'home'.

I thought I was the only mad one that nips of to Zermatt in summer or Kaprun in Nov for a quick 'fix' before the main season.
