Why not Austria? In June it is beautiful - weather quite good but not too hot and plenty of activities (walking, cycling etc) to do.
My folks bought an apartment there last year and don't ski - they are east of Salzburg near Bad Ischl. Beautiful towns, villages and lots of lakes and of course mountain activities
Cheap flight to Salzburg or Munich and travel around.
Cheers

Lots do do round Zell am See, Austria in summer - and if you feel the need you can alwasy have a morning skiing over on the glacier in Kaprun.

@rustyinn

Thats good to hear. I do intend to do lessons at VT. But I want to do the day course at Tamworth so that when I do lessons at VT I can go in as a novice who can get just about get down an easy slope, rather than someone who doesn't know one end of a ski from the other. Sounds like I should be ok.

When booking with ski school let them know that your not'complete' beginner - but be honest with how far you've got. They should do an assesment at the start of the first morning anyway to ensure that your going into an appropriate level group.

i am trying to hire ski`s n boot`s 2 adults 2 small creatures for les arcs 1950 but keep getting results for arcs 1600,1800,2000 . how many hire shops are in 1950 , should i hire from 2000 because skiset are such a reasonable price , why does my fridge hum at night

I was there last March with some friends who hired, there at least 2 ski hire places, from memory i think they used Freeride and had good service and no problems.

Had a quick look and found them vis this site

http://www.snowrental.net/skiing/france/les-arcs-1950/ski-hire-les-arcs-1950.html

But worth Googling around as you may find a better deal (I've just been searching in Zell am See and we saved about 12 Euro on the initial privce each for my freinds just by using a slightly different site - though the skis came from exactly the same shop - and same standard).

P.S. If your self-catering in Arc 1950 and decide to eat out any of the evenings be sure to book in advance as the restaurants can get rammed. If you got some small ones with you i guess you'll probably be eating reasonably early anyway, but better safe....
Welcome to the forum.

We were in Val T last January and enjoyed a good afternoon private lesson with the ski school.

As regards Tamworth a few of my staff did the 'learn to ski in a day course' late last year then another couple of 2 hour sessions before we took them to La Tania in January. Without any further lessons (though i did try at every opportunity to encourage them to take some in resort) they coped ok reaching right over to Courcheval 1650 towards the end of the week.

New Skis Required - Any advice?

I will always go for at least one week a year and am trying to go again this year as the snow was so good.

i think I will generally stay on piste as I will be with my g/f and she is not so confident on the slopes.

Have you got any advice on the length as well, as I used 163cm last week but all the ski selector tools say that I should be looking at a 170cm ski.

Thanks again

Will

I'm similar hight to you and using 167 Apache Recons which i love.

OK ! I'm convinced.

Just booked my flight to head there for a short break 1/3 - 5/3. Anyone else from J2Ski likely to be in town during that period ??
