Does anyone else on this forum remember seeing On the Piste back in the 1980's - it featured two groups going skiing, there were the Downhill Only Club who went to Wengen in Switzerland (very posh they were too!) and the Thomson package who went to Soll in Austria! There were some real characters in the programme, most notably Kevin - who could not ski to save his life, and two hilarious ladies Brenda and Maureen who discussed their underwear (or lack of) whilst going up on the chair lift. I have this on tape and watch it every year before I go skiing, because it reminds me of why I love the alpine environment so much. I wish the BBC would repeat it, I have never seen friends who don't ski, laugh so much - it is priceless!! Every year I go, I always see a 'Kevin' and remember that I have improved somewhat considerably since I first started!

If I had £1 for every time I have watched this, or loaned it to friends, I could pay for a skiing holiday!!
Rather a bad day on the slopes than a good day in the office!

Couldn't find anything on it exept 1 site where some guy was saying its the best thing ever he has seen and where can he get it on DVD. Was that you? :!:

Thank you for posting this - we had forgotten all about it! We too have a copy which has just been put in the case for taking out to ADH tomorrow in case we get snowed in! There was another programme about a season in the life of chalet staff.?

I am not that guy (as I am female for a start!) but glad others remember it - it is a classic and the funniest documentary I have ever seen. I have never people laugh so much at footage of people falling off drag lifts, chair lifts and causing mayhem for those coming up/off behind them - you need to watch it with a box of tissues - and for those of you who remember learning to ski, you will feel for 'Kevin' as he struggles in vain as he got off the drag lift too early.

If I can find out where I could get the video copied onto a DVD I will let you know, but for now the tape is a treasured possession!

I wonder where Kevin, Brenda and Maureen are now?? (I did see the two ladies on a daytime TV show, saying they were still skiing!)

If you can find someone with a DVD/Video combo unit you should be able to transfer to DVD no problem, i bought one recently to transfer all my daughters dancing videos to DVD and it worked a treat.

If your anywhere near Bristol I'd be more than happy to do it for you.

Ha ha! Tino!! There is the Uphill Ski Club of Great Britain for starters..

I have been told by a work colleague that we are getting just such a device so if I can get it copied onto a DVD I can send it down to Bristol for whoever to do lots of copies and the profits to a skiing charity, i.e. above - I am sure you will all agree it will be the best comedy money you will have spent all year!

Glad others remember it - why don't they make similar documentaries?? It came out when we first went skiing and I remember bits of it every year - and there are always characters very very similar who are on the nursery slopes! I must watch it again before I go this year!
