Ski boots - hand baggage or checked in

This has to be the best response ive ever seen, i love it... If airlines start taking the pi33 then we as skiers should most def stick together and start doing things like this. There is no rules that say your shoes that your wearing have to be a certain weight or size.... Im sure when airlines get fed up the policy or rules would change.

Im flying with Monarch on the 29th and their weight restriction for hand luggage is 5kg. If they ask me to pay any extra for the weight difference then i will seriously take them out of their bag and do just this. :D
Getting from Meribel to Val T

For me the hidden gem of the whole Val Thorens valley is Pointe De la Masse above les Menuires. I love this mountain, good skking, generally much quieter than the rest of the valley as it is not on a route to anywhere and holds the snow well due to its aspect.
La Masse is well worth the effort in my view, whereas fighting all the way to the Cime de Carron may not be.
Hope this helps.

Id have to agree with this statement. I really enjoyed skiing La Masse in the mornings with the sunshine on our faces... Im going back to Val thorens on the 29th jan and this yr i was wanting to ski over the back of La Masse, have you ever done this and if so where does it finish?

Thanks

I always take mine as hand luggage in a boot bag, never had a problem. I put my goggles inside 1 of the boots to keep them safe. The rules are as long as the item fits into the over head and its under 10kg you can take what you want. (clearly within their rules)

If i could id also put my ski gear in hand luggage, then the airline can please themselves what they do with my bag, as long as i have my ski gear and the clothes on my back then im happy

You dont buy travel insurance, May i ask why not?

I'm incredibly careful, incredibly lucky, and I've/we've paid billions of pounds into the EU, so I expect the EHIC to cover any medical expenses while in Europe. If it doesn't and I have to stump up the bill, I can ASSURE you I will get the money back off Heir Cameron and Frau Osborne.

Granted you can get decent cover for about £25, but it's also a matter of principle for me.

Yes I dont mean to be morbid but you can be as careful as you like, but what would you do if you killed someone? Id like to think you ski with a triangle stuck to your back to warn others..

I can second this, its a great little park with plenty to play on. I dont ski park usually but i have been through it and must say i enjoyed what was there.

There is a very nice restaurant just above the super morzine bubble. I cant remember the name of the run but its a blue run and the place is at the bottom on the right. You cant miss it, the restaurant is only small inside but has a big outside seating area which is usually in the sun. If you go here then you need to have the omlette. It will be the best you have ever eaten..

If you have a full PDS pass, then head over to the swiss side down the long blue run to morgin from the top of mossetts.. The ski back is alot quieter than any of the runs in avoriaz and morzine. * pls note though its quite a trek so if you are not fast skiers then make sure you allow enough time to get back* A good intermediate should be able to do the trip in about 2/3 hours.

If you get over to Champousson then i can also recommend a stop at the restaurant at the side of the red run in the village, its not hard to find as its the only 1, the food here is great. I could go on and on but i think half the pleasure is exploring so go for it. have a great time... :D

After looking online and also in the small print i cant say it fills me with much confidence... I think i will buy a seperate policy. Who would you recommend?
