When I spoke to the airport they said they didn't have a problem but to check with my airline as they may have. Some airlines state they won't allow it and some of those state it's due to airport regulations.

How confusing and unfair
What's wrong with ski boots in hand luggage? Flying seems to have become very complicated now - it's just as well I usually get the train :D

I flew out of Bristol to Geneva, and back from Geneva to Gatwick, so those airports must be okay with it (or at least they were in October), and so was EasyJet.

Bristol must have changed there policy (or you were lucky) then. Last season they had big signs stuck up in several places before cheeck in warning that no boots were allowed in hand baggage.

Definetly much better value, we almost always skied back 'home' there to buy lunch when we were there 2 years ago.

Might be worth taking a look at Italy, a better apres atmosphere than France - and generally much cheaper, refugios to die for and half day ski school in the resorts we have stayed in.

Hope you get it sorted and have a great family trip.

The morning & afternoon ski lessons is about my only problem with skiing in Austria (anywheer else i've found it's morning or afternoon but not both).

We had adult beginners in our group last week and they opted for private lessons in the end rather than ski school groups as they wanted to have the afternoon to work on what they had learnt in the morning rather than charge on. They did ask the T/O about only doing mornings in a group but were told that they would end up way behind the rest of the class.

I took my children for the first time when they were slightly older than yours and while the eldest coped ok, the youngest was defeintly out of sorts by the end of the day - not only that it left little time on what was supposed to be a 'family' ski holiday for us all to actually try and do anything together.

The couple of years after that we skiied in France so we only had the half day lessons.

Have a look at skibreaks.co - i think they have a solo's/singles catered chalet week in March.

Met a group from them skiing in Zell-am-See last week and it all appeared pretty well organised.

Skiing on way to Venice.

Jabe444 wrote:Train and bus stations easily accessible in Venice. check with a tourist office or hotel staff on the best route of transportation. Sella ronda area great (Arabba, Corvara etc) but can be a little tricky to get to. I recommend Cortina d'Ampezzo. Warning though, snowfall has been short and most resorts have been seeing rain, even above 2000 meters. Venice in Feb must mean Canival. Have fun!

There was certainly plent of snow in the Sella Ronda area last week - even at the lowest levels, though this weeks warm weather won't have helped it. Plnety of time for more snow before Feb

Carnvale is great! My daughter was gutted that we went skiing in January instead of our normal Feb this year and she missed it.
