My daughter is traveling to Venice in Feb and is asking me if there are good ski resorts on the way to Venice( or where she could take a train into Venice afterwards). She does not have a car. Can anyone suggest where she could go?(She is an advanced skier)

Where is she travelling to Venice from ?

If she was flying into Venice then I would have thought she could probably take the train to Belluno, then switch to Dolomitibus service. There seeems is a service listed from Belluno to Alleghe for the Civetta ski are, which then then continues onto Arabba and Corvara opening up the Sella Ronda ski areas to her.

There are probably other options and I'm sure others will suggest them, these are just the routes/areas I know (last did the the journey from Corvara to Venice last Sunday).

Canadienne, how long would she be looking to spend skiing? If it were a week for example then maybe that would open up some resorts a little further away. If it were just for a day then clearly she'd need it to be within a very reasonable distance.
I wish I could meet the person who first decided to strap 2 planks to their feet and throw themselves down a mountain

If she had a week then major operators could come into play or smaller specialists like Collett's Mountain Holidays so long as she could fit in with there Sat/Sat or Sun/Sun transfers - takes the pain out of getting there and back to Venice.

She would like to ski for about 4 days but if staying a week is more reasonable she will do that. She is traveling from Paris so could go somewherein France or Switzerland but she would like to try Italy

Train and bus stations easily accessible in Venice. check with a tourist office or hotel staff on the best route of transportation. Sella ronda area great (Arabba, Corvara etc) but can be a little tricky to get to. I recommend Cortina d'Ampezzo. Warning though, snowfall has been short and most resorts have been seeing rain, even above 2000 meters. Venice in Feb must mean Canival. Have fun!

There was certainly plent of snow in the Sella Ronda area last week - even at the lowest levels, though this weeks warm weather won't have helped it. Plnety of time for more snow before Feb

Carnvale is great! My daughter was gutted that we went skiing in January instead of our normal Feb this year and she missed it.
