We went that week last year - snow conditions were not fantastic, but it was a poor season overall. We found plenty to keep us occupied. Even made it over onto the south facing Swiss slopes which for the most part were really dreadful.
But we had a great week and will definetly go back - hopefully with better snow next time! Dave |

The Alpe d'Huez green slopes are good as are the lifts but there can be a hell of a lot of 'through traffic'.
We had good times a few years ago with some 2nd week skiers in Folgarida/Madonna. Dave

Have also used these guys when I'm going solo or with a mate with very different ability to me and usually nicely mixed group (sex/age/ability). Will be doing start of seasojn with them in Kaprun this November.

Can thoroughly recomend Collett's - have doen both group and solo trips with them and alwasy been looked after superbly and always found a great group to ski with.
I'd tend to go for the Haus Valentin accommodation if going solo or just a few of you, although it's that bit further off the main circuit it's got nicer social areas and catering for about 30 theres less chance of you ending up just filling in the one room a big party didn't take. Always very social and the hosts/guides get everyone mixing well. Going again with them in December - that's 4 years in a row.... nuff said. Dave

Just back from a week in Morzine, while they havn't had snow for quite some time they were doing there best to keep things going with the snow cannons hamering away all night. Thankfully it stayed cold during the week so while the conditions were not perfect most of the runs were open with only a few which catch lots of sun closed - mind you one that was totally shot had a dozen ponies grazing on what should have been a blue run!
Avoriaz had some good snow, especially on the highest runs, dropping over the border the south/east facing Swiss resorts had taken a hammering with white ribbons that were allegedly pistes coming down through the green mountains. The temperature started rising dramtically later on Friday and by the time we came of the slopes in Les Gets at 2.30pm on Saturday 5th Feb the thermometer in the car was showing +19.5 degrees. OUCH!
