Same reason I'm loathe to ride a motorbike, would quite happily trust myself to ride safely but it's the other road users you can't account for!

Opinionated Jenno over and out.

Jenno, there is nothing wrong in being opinionated but to think a helmet will protect you against a crash like we have seen above is living in cloud cuckoo land the you tube incident would have caused injuries to leg, back, ribs and maybe neck, I have mentioned before maybe full body armour is the way forward

Wickers I couldn't agree more that a helmet may not protect all extremeties however protecting Poirot's favoured little grey cells over all else could certainly prevent flatlining. The You Tube incident could well have resulted in various broken bones but should their two heads have collided then who knows what shape they may have been in. I have no preaching message for or against helmets but if I can protect my noggin first and foremost at least should something happen one thing I can cut the odds on is being in cloud land, cuckoos or not!
I decided to have a life change and be more spontaneous. Starting tomorrow.

Was he the victim?

I would say it is he who crashed into the learner, who was skiing around the poles.

Guy in red crashed into guy in green. Guy in green (who was not a beginner judging by his skiing) was on the slalom course. The slalom course appears to run straight down the hill. The skier coming from the left, seems to be traversing the slope. It looks like he was totally unaware of what was going on around him, that he was crossing a practice race course, or that he was cutting across a slope with an oncoming skier.

because I'm so inclined .....

It isn't a huge jump to consider the fact that if the impact was slightly different then heads could easily have collided though and if that had have happened then I would go out on a limb to suggest both would have wished they had been in receipt of some cranial protection!

Ian,
Now, now, this isn't meant to be another helmet debate. We don't want to get this thread locked as well as that other one

I'm just very glad I wasn't either of those poor people who collided, and I hope they weren't seriously hurt.

Ally,

What is learning slalom or having slalom lessons?

Is it a fancy name for turning ??

When I was in Italy this year a young girl came skiing down a blue slope, lost it on a turn and hit her head on a tree, splitting her helmet and getting concussion

Although she was going quite fast but loads were going faster

Makes you think
