Just curious not being pedantic ......

nothing pedantic in your question :D

long story short, I had an accident on the first day of my third skiing holiday. Damaged mcl on left knee and ligament replacement surgery on right knee. I've been on 7 skiing holidays and have skied approximately 3 and a half weeks worth. On my last trip at new year I couldn't turn on my right leg, I'm psychologically buggered.

I'm not prepared to give up the holidays I love so much so thought I'd give myself another chance. Hopefully I've got no psychological barriers with boarding. I'll find out on tuesday :?

Wow,

I had read before about your knee problem but didn't know about not being able to turn on the right leg.

I would be mortified if I had to give up skiing .....

Hope it goes well and you love the board as much as the planks !

A little late for Tuesday Caron, but here's a great exercise to prepare for snowboarding. Stand with the toes, and balls of your feet on the bottom step of a staircase (facing the stairs). Raise, and lower yourself just using your ankles. You can hold the hand rail, but it's better if you are just balancing. It really works the muscles needed for edging a snowboard.

I really hope you have a great time. Don't expect too much on a first day.

because I'm so inclined .....

Trencher,
It's a very strange thing, but I've just been doing a very similar exercise to that as part of my ski exercise program. It's in my book, but they don't do it on the stairs (which is just as well because we haven't got any!).

In my book, because it's for ski-ing I suppose, you do one leg at a time, by standing on one leg, and raise and lower your heel while keeping your toes on the floor. It's actually surprisingly difficult to do at first. And when you get good at it you have to do ten on each leg without putting your heel right down on the ground at all. I can manage all ten with my right leg but not with my left.

And Caron, I repeat best wishes for the boarding at Hemel
