I can't believe I haven't seen that film. Dodgeball is one of my favourites.

Trencher, I've been doing a few throughout the day (like you say, probably not much help now) and I don't need to hold on which I'm going to take as a good sign :D.

I'm now indecisive, I can't wear the knee pad and my Donjoy brace so I really don't know which to go for. The pad is extremely sturdy and I'm leaning towards that at the moment.

The exercise helps a bit holding a toeside edge. It can be a little tiring to start with, especially when standing still facing up the hill, on long cat tracks, and when doing falling leaf exercises when learning to board. On the heelside, the binding high back provides a lever, and just balance is needed.

I would opt for the brace if you feel you need it, provided it is comfortable to kneel, otherwise the knee pads make life comfortable. I think generally when you fall forward on a board, you don't actually take the full force with your knees. The knees should touch down first, but then you continue falling forward, and take rest of the fall on your forearms. The instructor will show you how.

Don't let the sitting around buckling in put you off, When you get your own equipment, you can get Flow "step ins", which are easy to do standing up.

Guess who managed to get up the drag lift 1st time without falling over! Well done caron-a :D

Caron seemed to be doing rather well, having a way better time than I had with my 1st day on a tray. It was good to meet you and Mr A :D

We were wondering if I'd manage to get this photo up before she's finished her 1 day course

I thought it took several days to learn how to use a drag lift with a 'tray'. Well done Caron! :D

WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! I have one of my favourite days ever  We had an absolute blast and really seemed to pick it up (fingers crossed).

There was eight of us and we all progressed at different rates but the instructor (Alan) was superb making sure we all had the tuition we needed. We started turning after lunch and some of us managed the main slope about an hour or so later. Unforunately, the only other girl in the group went to hospital with a possible broken wrist. All my get up saved my knees, my coccyx and my wrists (hence the funny gloves, Tony. they had guards in them). My right knee is very, very sore from all the scooting, particularly from lifting the board after the drag to get it down the slope before doing up the bindings. Interestingly, out of the nine of us (instructor included) I was the only goofy. Mr-a started goofy but ended up regular.

It was an absolute pleasure to meet bandit, such a lady, and she skis beautifully :D

Our camera packed up and my crap phone's battery ran out 2/3 of the way down my little run but this is mr-a first (all in black starts on the right) and then me at about 3pm, ie: after approx 3 hours on the slope...

(extremely bad quality)

thanks so much for all your support and advice everyone. I'm one happy bunny and mr-a, who only did it to keep me happy, is absolutely buzzing.
