Mike, I am certainly not going to jump down anyone's throat. There are different views and situations all over the world. What has come out of it for me is how fragile our hold on this planet is, and perhaps how much we take for granted. And more importantly, when something unprecedented happens, there are no experts!
I actually know Jose and Merlin from Slidewayz and am sorry to hear that news. They will not be the only strugglers. I sing and play guitar(and drink San Miguel) in The Harp in Soldeu, and they have no idea when, or if, they will be allowed to open. All my instructor friends and mountain workers are sitting on their hands in limbo. We can only hope for the best!

Do you have a source for this? If true, it may very well have a great impact on Andorra's opening too, as they seem to do what its neighbors (want them to) do..

@Brucie I and many of my friends helped Merlin clear some of his stock after the shortened season last spring at some great discounts. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to save his ALV store, and now we may not even get to use what we bought.
On a happier note, we are getting a pretty decent snowfall here today and more forecasted for the near future. I just may have to go and get myself a snowmobile after all to actually enjoy the white stuff this season. It's quite clear that I can't trust that the lifts will run here at all this year.

Seeing that ski areas in Romania and Slovakia opening tomorrow so seems they have not got the German/French/Italian memo.

I think the Swiss opened because of pressure from hoteliers.

Spain proposing unrestricted access by tourists by end of March.
This is a pragmatic approach, possibly, but too late for the ski season.
