They're wasting their time with fictitious snow "next weekend" in Soldeu. It closes on the 18th!
I think you are right Jean Claude. We locals in Soldeu became more and more suspicious and sceptical of j2ski's long range forecast as the season progressed!

And I note the 130cm forecast yesterday has disappeared today. Just realised the resort is closed?

My wife and I were in Chamonix for 2 months. With the exception of one big dump the forecasts were so far out it was not funny.
I came to recognise a pattern which looked very very dodgy and came to the conclusion that it may have been a con to lure people to the resorts. If that is true then skiers will likely abandon this website.

With temperatures not expected to get much lower that they are now, whatever snow that is going to fall at all skiing altitudes, will be like wet cement that only looks like snow from the distance, but can easily take your ligaments out when you try to ski it. It's over, and any snow that may arrive will only ruin an otherwise beautiful spring.

Totally unrealistic snow depth reported too.

JC I heard people skied Mt Blanc last week. Good opportunity to get something interesting done in last few weeks in Europe.

Reality check for everyone, there is good skiing if you go high.

I had a few belly laughs when I looked at your link Ranchero. When we left Chamonix a week ago the Vallee Blanche was littered with rocks coming out everywhere and ice at the Montenver end. It looked fairly good at the start below the Aiguilles du Midi but given that the season was a poor one and the temperatures have been more like beach weather I imagine that VAllee Blanche would have been substandard to say the least. The glowing report on the link is highly likely real estate spin to get bums on beds. If that is not fabricated then I must be dreaming.
Let's face it this season in Europe is a disaster. End of story. Should have gone to north America or Canada but that is the price one pays for planning ahead these days.
Pack up the skis, get out the bike and running shoes. Skiing is over.

JC even on the very best years there are rocks at the end of the VB, so don't really understand your comments. That is the reality of skiing a mountain vs. a prepared piste or NA in-bounds; conditions evolve with altitude. There is an almost inevitable bush whacking element to a lot of big vertical off-piste classic routes in Europe. My advice to having experienced a ½ full ski season would be the same as at the bar, order another one; worst case it tastes the same however your appreciation for the scenery will improve. Whilst there is always a risk that I will be eating my words am sticking my neck out and confidently stating that I will be able to post a few nice pictures in 3 weeks time. Even in the worst of seasons there is something interesting to be done in Cham.

In response to your comments on fabrication I would like to remind you that Mountain Guides world over work extremely hard to find their clients amazing experiences. Given that we essentially trust them with our lives there is clearly no benefit to be gained from breaking that. Good guides run at greater than 50% repeat business, people trusting them to find the best conditions regardless of the season as a whole (summer or winter).
