Thanks guys. I had read it was 800m from our hotel to the Plan Maison lifts, so hopefully the piste nearby might drop us closer into town first thing, to get an early start. Otherwise it might be a stiff walk or a taxi!

My mate and his Mrs will be pleased to hear the skiing is easy and cruisy, I might be looking away from the pistes for my fun though.

Looking forward to it, especially after the recent snow that fell putting a great base in place. I will report back early Feb.

Was there in 2012. I quite enjoyed it as the runs are good and it was fairly quiet. Wife hated it because of the squat toilets.
One tip though, don't sit at the front of the bus on the transfer. If you do you spend most of the trip feeling like the bus is going to go over the edge as the driver negotiates the very bendy, narrow road.
Oh, and another thing, in case you have not been to Italy before, if you order a hot chocolate it will be more like melted chocolate than the drink you are used too. It is very thick and sweet and can be rather sickly.
Anyway, hope you have a great time.
Skied: On snow, On water, On mud, On slush, On ice. Oh, and on a few dry slopes.

Just back yesterday. Fantastic week of blue skies and sun, pistes in outstandingly good condition, and womdeful skiing over in Zermatt. The link was open ALL WEEK. However, we said on Saturday that the place needed a freshen up to make it look nice and snowy again as patches were showing off piste and wouldn't you have guessed it - it started to snow at 8pm Sat evening and was still dumping as we left at 5.30am Sunday!
The bus ride down in half a metre of snow without chains was "interesting". That road isn't anything to worry about, theres only a handful of hairpins and it was a decent 2 lane road all the way down to the Aosta Valley....much more interesting going to to Val Thorens or Alpe d'huez!!!!

Great ski area, nice little village actually which I was surprised about. Zermatt is incredibly dramatic with the Matterhorn. I got some lovely photos and will do a full report when I get the time maybe later this week.

Good choice bearing in mind how warm the end of Jan has been. I'd have been really annoyed had I have been any lower as I was told conditions not far away over in ViaLattea were really quite bad.

For skiing September through January probably no better resort in the world. People say lacks some challenging runs but has some amazing fall line piste skiing that allows you to really open up the taps.

There are some wonderful red pistes to bomb around on, yes. I wouldn't have suggested it was an "east" place to ski, mate of mine who keeps talking about Cervinia, would have struggled to get around, he's a timid intermediate.

The attraction for me was the altitude, and I say it again - with the weather as it has been in recent years, you need to go high up to book i advance or get VERY LUCKY!!! The other main factor was the link to Zermatt, and fortunately we had a calm sunny week so it was open every day.

More to follow.....

I visited Cervinia 2012 and going again soon. The international ski pass price had gone up A LOT. So how's the price level at the moment? Can anyone give some recent price examples?

My ski pass was included in the club med package, although I understand its the most expensive in Europe now!
