Klosters is quite quiet at night, Davos is much bigger and livelier went to a ice hockey game in Davos and surprisingly was a great night out. We had great snow and sun for the week and so the skiing was excellent. Never went back though ..... too quiet for me.

Quietness was not really a problem for us as we'll be taking our 6month old for her first taste of the snow. Cheers for the ice-hockey tip, i'll have to see if there is a game while we're there. It's also nice to hear you had good skiing when you were there.

A side ways tack on the thread .....
Watched Courchevel team play Oxford University at ice hockey a few years ago.
Really good fun, wonderful atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Ice Hockey is one of THE great spectator sports with a great atmosphere and not that much understanding of the rules required for a casual fan

Watching Davos could be a great shout if the lockout of the NHL continues as the great players are playing across the European leagues this sseason to keep in shape whilst they are locked out by the North American owners in a dispute over their Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Davos have two Canadian Olympic Gold Medallist in Joe Thornton and Rick Nash and most of the other elite Swiss teams have NHL players on the staff this season. There's every chance the whole NHL season will be written off so these players could well still be there when you go!

I am glad others concur with ice hockey as a sport. We drove to Davos from Klosters for the evening and followed a crowd thinking it might be a firework display or something of the like. We didn't really fancy ice hockey when we got to the stadium but I must say the sport was amazing ... so fast and rough that doesn't really come over so much on TV.

The crowd was very rowdy and good humoured and the beer flowed. Definitley one of those off the cuff nights out when you're pleasently surprised and have an all round great time!

I hope there is a game on when you're there and that you get the sun and snow we had!

Value still abounds in Switzerland. The Klosters-Davos ski pass includes Pischa and Rinderhorn: two quieter areas with snow bowls often powder-filled. The longest peak to valley runs end at villages like Kublis where unspoilt cheap Gasthaus meals can be found. If you are good at handling an integrated transport system (and enjoy its Swiss excellence), you can ski adventurously. You can still find CHF89.00 half board AND live above the tree line in ski huts and restaurants offering beds: see "mountain inns/ hotels" on the Davos-Klosters website -) . Failing all else, come ski with us at Stratton Mountain, Vermont - our home base, opening late November!

Def consider the Ice Hockey mate - the NHL is still locked out so the great players are in Switzerland (and other leagues)

Have a great time!
